Frontier Adds Another A318. . .

Fri May 14, 2004 12:11 am

Frontier has just added one more A318 (N806FR) from GECAS. This is A318 #6. I think the current tally of a/c is now: 26 A319s, 6 A318s, and 10 733s.
Just a few days ago, F9 took delivery of an A319 (N927FR) (from ILFC?).

For all you spotters out there. . .I've been watching the F9 A319s and A318s out at DIA. I have found that the easiest way to tell them apart, for me at least, is definately the tail. The A318 tail is taller and sharper, if you will. Once you've seen a few in person. . .it is pretty straight forward.

Does this one have the direct TV hooked up? They have been approved to activate the system. I don't think they have had alot of time to do it lately.

Good question. . .I really don't know. I've been doing a lot of UA flights lately, but I bet some other A.netter can answer that. . .

Two of the A328's are now hooked up for DirectTV.

Frontier has a total of 7 on order, with 1 more to come early next year.

However, from the CEO's notes at the Bear Sterns presentation (seperate thread), he said that the fleet will continue to be "a mix of A319's and A318's".

From that, I assume they'll order some order.

What's an A328?

Any word as to if F9 will be acquiring some A320's?

Aircraft 801,802,and I believe 803 all have up and running DirecTV service. I know 804 doesn't becuase I worked that aircraft yesterday. Last time I checked 805 does not have it yet.

An A328? Easy - it's a typo.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

As mentioned in the previous post, the CEO, Jeff Potter, only mentioned A318's and A319's.

Well starting in June you can see only A318 at Nashville. I wonder if they will rotate their a/c on the route so that each of them will make an appearance at BNA?

Bruce, yes, we rotate the planes on basically a daily basis. Here in MSY for example we are scheduled to see a 318. We may see 801 for two days in a row and then may not see it for a week. All the aircraft usually have a different rotation. Be on the lookout for the occassional A319 sub when we fly to BNA...it happens every now and then.  Smile

I agree. Also, all A318's registrations are numbered in the 800's, the A319's are numbered in the 900's, and the 737's (we only have -300's now) are numbered in the 300's (I believe).

Our station manager at LAX says that at this time, we are not looking at the 320 because it is currently too large for our operational needs. The A318 and A319 are doing great for us in terms of capacity, and have been great with interchanging the two when capacity dictates the need to do so. However, I would love to see an A 320 or even an A 321 in F9 colors....widebodies would be even better- but that's definitely a fantasy...hehe

I hope this helps.

I think we'll see a handful of 320's on the property within a few years. There are several markets which could use the added lift (MCO and MSP are two that come to mind).

Steve, I just found this new photo of 804. Since it now has "the dome", I guess that means it has been fitted for DirectTV?:

Hey Mariner, yep, 804 must have it up and running now. We had 805 today and that one has it as well.  Smile

What is the range of the Frontier A318?

All the new planes that arrive come with the tv's built into the IFE system correct? I think it would be a such a waste of money for F9 to have to remove all the seats and re-wire a brand new plane.

MSYTristar,

Our system shows that 803's system is not up and running. The only 318's w/Direct TV are 801 and 802.

Don't trust the system for the whole truth on what's active and what's not. As soon as the 318 got the approval for DirecTv they have been getting turned on quicker than the DRS can be updated.
