If my memory serves me correct, US will start receiving theirs in 2005 or 2006. More A319/320/321s will start 2006 or 2007.

I have heard late summer. While NW has not made a final determination of which routes the A332 will fly, there are strong rumors and some indications that the type will be introduced on the SFO-NRT and the new PDX-NRT routes.

NW currently has no A332s, but they do have 8 A333s flying transatlantic routes out of Detroit to Amsterdam, Rome, Paris and Frankfurt.

I reckon US will be long gone by the time they should be receiving theirs!

If US can stay around long enough to even see them than congratulations to them. I unfortunately think that by the time those 'busses would be coming in, they'd already bit the dust. So long US.....  Sad

Sure hope that NW places the A332 on SFO-NRT first. I'm tired of seeing the DC-10 break and tow away or taxi back after pushback. I personally am not a fan of the new paint job on the DC-10, just doesn't look right!

Please, everyone, send as many positive thoughts US's way as you can! They're not dead yet!

I heard that US had restructured their deal with Airbus during bankruptcy and are only going to take A333s and no longer A332s.

Is this true?

NW's press releases have indicated that both PDX-NRT and SFO-NRT will operate with an A332 by year's end.

An A330-200 would sure be nice in NW colors. Anyone know what routes they plan to use the equipment on? I understand that PDX-NRT is one. Will LAX ever see them?

When are NW and US scheduled to recieve their Airbus A330-200s?

US is scheduled to receive 10x 332 between 2007 and 2009.

How many 332's does US currently have?

None. US currently operates 9x 333. (Also, 10x 762, which the 332 will likely replace.)

I heard that US had restructured their deal with Airbus during bankruptcy and are only going to take A333s and no longer A332s. Is this true?

What US did during bankruptcy is exchange an order for 1x 333 and 18x 32X for the aforementioned 10x 332 order. Additionally, US has another 19x 32X on order, also scheduled to arrive between 2007 and 2009. US has said that it may not take delivery of all of the narrowbody Airbus aircraft currently on order. (It plans to take delivery of all of the widebodies, however.)

If you bothered to read the response above yours, you'd find the information you're looking for.

But here's the Cliff Notes version:

From the way that the US B767-200's look, the A330-200's will arrive just in the nick of time. Good luck USAir!

Ok, so I guess I was corrected on my dates. I wasn't quite sure. I think most of the A32X that will be coming in are A321s also, but I'm not sure. I saw a website that had the delivery schedule, but the link is at home so I'll have to check it out later.

I think US should just use A332s instead of the A333s. They could sell all the A333s to NW and work out a deal with Airbus to take only A332s. I think this would help them lower costs as they phase out the B762s and would also help them because they would only need to fill less capacity.

Well I'm no expert and I welcome any positive corrections from other A.net members, but Dlamant15, I don't know how much you know about technical specs on aircraft but it would make no sense for US Airways to ditch all of their A333s because the A332 has significantly more range than the A333. Why would US operate an A332 out of PHL to LGW? It seems to me that wouldn't be too economical. But, like I said, if any A.net members can validate such an idea then please let me know.

They're not having a hard time filling their seats on international routes. Keeping the 333 gives them opportunity for profit that would be lost with the 332.

That being said, the 332 is not more expensive to operate than the 333.

That statement is entirely dependent upon the stage length.

Well you could fill an A333 on any route if you sold tickets for $10 a seat.

The A332 will allow them to be more adaptable. Switching aircraft where necessary will become easier staff crew can operate both. I agree they shall probably replace the 767 routes freeing up aircraft for new routes.

Anyone know if US will be thinking of a PHL-NRT route, as the new A332's can - unlike the A333's - handle the range.

SonicKidatBWI Is it quite necessary to post in such a ridiculous colour. I find it hurts my eyes when reading your comments.

US on PHL-NRT, absolutely not and I really dont think the 332 has that sort of range. There are so many reasons why this will never happen but its not really worth my time to type it out.

PHL-NRT = 5800nm

A332 range = 6650nm range

Anyone else care to point out a reason why this route would not work. Being from the UK i am not up to date with current US air affairs.

The aircraft could conceivably complete the route, but I don't know that they'd want to.
