UA Fare Code Requirements

Mon May 17, 2004 2:28 am

I heard UA is slowly transitioning to a minimum fare code level in order to earn 100% of the FF miles.

I believe DL and Co operate under this scheme in the US, I know that BA has long since been this way. Reports show business travelers are willing to book a higher fare code in order to maintain their status and earn 100% of the miles, not that they are paying anyway!!!

I have noticed the more recent UA FF promotions all require a farecode higher than W.

This is a HUGE misconception. DL does offer 100% of miles flown booked to your FF account - regardless of fare code (assuming it's not an award ticket). What DL and others are doing is not counting the entire amount toward your elite status. So, if you fly DFW-SEA on an L fare, you will get the 1600 miles posted to your Skymiles account, but only 800 will be counted toward your elite status. The full amount is there for you to use.

LH is renewing their M&M conditions, too and I think, what they do is right.

You'll still earn miles in each booking class (except X,I,O who are award classes) but for a domestic flight within germany, you will earn between 125 and 750 miles (status and bonus), depending on the booking class so somebody who payed 92 euros return won't get the same mileage as those guys who booked last minute and had to pay 500+ euros.

same concept on all international routes.

the only thing that bugs me: executive bonus (+25%) will not be granted on all Star carriers anymore but only on UA, LH, OS and LOT Polish - and I'll be flying 34.000 miles on TG in september  Smile

DELTAFFINDFW:
Your statement is incorrect....
DL does offer 100% of miles flown booked to your FF account - regardless of fare code (assuming it's not an award ticket).

Delta does NOT issue FF miles for Priceline tickets, "Comair Weekend Traveler" fares, or bookings "through some internet sites".
