That is indeed correct. KLM has been contracted to to the ground handling.

We used to handle VASP in the past also. Also MD-11. They flew to Sao Paulo (GRU) via Manaus (MAO). That flight had continuing service to Buenos Aires (EZE).

It will be nice to see another MD-11 besides KLM's own.

Yes it is good news too see MD11 birds at AUA!
Maybe there will come special through fares to/from AMS!?

Anyone knows if RG will get traffic rights on the AUA-CCS sector?

As MAH4456 has posted this flight will not be non-stop, but operated via CCS.

Here it is again:

With all these new announcements of new routes: AUA, PEK, more frequencies to MEX, etc., I have the impression that RG is doing much better now. Can anybody tell us if the deeper codeshare agreement with JJ has already started? RG had high hopes on increased cooperation with JJ to restore its financial health, that's why I ask.

I am glad to see new destinations for RG and wish the best to them. By the way, is there official information on the number and times of the new frequencies to MEX?
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

This is good news indeed. However, I don't understand why they will use such a large aircraft for that route, an MD11? Is a 767-300 not good enough for this route? Or does Varig use the MD11 because of its larger cargo capacity? I can imagine Caracas has a decent cargo demand from Brazil. I heard Varig flies to Amsterdam on a daily basis because of the cargo demand from Brazil. Where I work at Schiphol Airport, we get the passengers for the Varig flights, but it's not more than 60-70 people boarding in Amsterdam, but the cargo seems to be more profitable for Varig on their Amsterdam flights.

Anyway, it's nice to see another airline operating to Aruba. I wish Curaçao had the airlines Aruba has, but that is just wishful thinking I guess. They are building a new terminal in Curaçao, so hopefully that might work better for Curaçao.

Good luck to Varig and Aruba  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

When VP carried out flights to Aruba they were also MD-11's and they were always full. As I mentioned before this is due to cruise ship pax and also Brazilians are looking for alternative places to spend their holiday.
KLM will handle the flight in Aruba and what we were told by the RG Station Manager, is that people are looking for alternative places to spend their short holidays.
Due to the strict entry laws for Brazilians in the USA, people just want to avoid that hassle, so a place like AUA would be ideal.
I am wondering however how long it will last.
In the past we had TAM, VASP, TransBrasil and Passaredo operating flights between Brazil and Aruba.

What Venezuela747 said about KLM not been able to carry passengers between AUA and CCS is true. But that was because KLM was partners with Air Aruba and ALMAntillean at the time. KLM would carry the pax to AUA or CUR and FQ or LM would carry them on to CCS. The only people who were allowed to fly between AUA and CCS were airline non-revvers.

I got an e-mail from someone in CCS, informing me that RG will be able to transport passengers between CCS and AUA.

I checked in the reservation system and indeed it is possible for a reasonable price. So anyone in CCS wanting to test the MD-11 on a 40-50 minute flight can do so. It is even possible to return on the same flight if you are doing CCS-AUA-CCS.

Happy Flying all and thanks Luis!
