BA World Traveler Plus

Wed May 19, 2004 2:50 pm

I am flying this summer from PHX to LHR in WT+. I'm 6'1. I hope I'm going to be comfortable.

Can someone tell me what the seating is like? How much legroom and seat pitch? Are there footrests and PTV's? Usually, I'm not able to sleep on airplanes, but will I have at least a good chance with these seats?

How about food service? How good is it?

Is it like the old Club World Class before they went to full bed seats?

I tried World Traveller Plus once from SYD-SIN.
It is OK, much better than Y Class and more room. However Food = Y Class (Same)

It is not as comfortable as the old J Cradle Seats (as the foot rest is not desgined well.

But I think it is still better than World Traveller. Make sure you get the Seperate Seat at the emergecy exit (on a 744) It is much better, extra room and better footrest

I flew WT+ last year LHR-EWR. As someone who has never flown anything other than economy I was impressed with the amount of personal space I had.

Seat pitch is 38" and configuration is always 2-4-2 I believe.

You get the economy style PTV's (seatback type) but with the Club World choice of programs, 18 channels + games instead of just 12 channels. The controls are also detachable for use as a joypad rather than fixed in the armrest.

As already mentioned food service is the same as WT but you do get served first.

I'm going to Mauritius in February and we've opted to fly in WT+ again, it's definitely worth the money for that kind of flight.

Its pretty good, but I wouldn't pay the fare difference for it - I did LHR-HKG-LHR in W and it was fine - much bigger seats, 38in legroom, bigger PTV - 2 x 4 x 2 seating on the 744. On the way the W cabin was empty except for us, which was excellent. Its nice having the seperate cabin away from the herd, although there is no other differentiation in terms of service in the cabin or on the ground. Better yet, it was a freebie !

I used WTP for a return from LHR to MIA last year. In my opinion, it represents excellent value. The cabin is a lot calmer than "4th" Class, with only 5 rows and 2-4-2. OK, so the meal is the same as in economy, but that's not the point. The benefit of Plus is that you get a nice big seat and a calm cabin at a reasonable price. It means there is a half-way house between Y and J, whereby you can enjoy a big seat without having to pay for a bunch of other benefits you may not want (premium meals/drinks etc).It is a lot more relaxing and the 8h25m flight to MIA flew by (no pun intended...). The seat is not as nice as the old cradle seat (only 38" vs 50"), but it is big enough to eliminate the claustrophobia feeling around the knees and elbows in Y.
