I don't believe Qantas has "fifth freedom" rights in the US. Can anyone confirm this.

No. They don't but you can probabaly fly it if you choose to fly to Sydney at a later date on the same ticket.
I believe CX is the only carrier from JFK- Vancouver who offers the above transcon possibility.

So you have AA, UA, HP, DL, and B9 to choose from.

You could chose between AA's 10 daily 3-Class B767's from JFK-LAX. It all depends on what time you want to be there. With AA you will have plenty of choices.

Welcome to airliners.net, Quantasflyer!

In my opinion, Quantas is the best airline in the world and I fly them no matter what, whether I'm traveling JFK-LAX or JFK-IAD (through LAX). Sure, it's a long way to IAD -- but those PTVs (at every seat in Y!!) make the time fly by, and best of all, I get to fly on Quantas!!

AA Transcon

Flying on flight 1, 13, 133, and others 10's of times a year in business class on AA is plenty good for me. The old projector is fine, the seats are fine, and the flight is always smooth and uneventful. If you fly UA over AA, the only benefit is that the business class is slight nicer because 1 or 2 of their transcon flights a day are flown on a 763 instead of a 762  Smile

Yes, B9 is also an excellent choice! Their Tupolev Tu-154 are very clean and well maintained!

Opps, I forgot to answer your question. While I haven't flown AW myself, I've been told that you should expect stained seats and a general smell of body order throughout the cabin. And 5-hours on a prop doesn't sound too exciting...

For F and J, I recommend AA... maintaining a decent amount of service. In F, you get DVD players.

For Y, I actually will recommend United JFK flights operated by Boeing 767-300ER, which maintains a nice complimentary meal service and PTV service. Of course, if flying into LGB is a possibility, I like Jetblue B6 much.

IP... you've got quite the sense of humor today, but I think its gone right over their heads.

Quantasflyer... QF can only carry LAX-JFK for same day connections.
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

PA110, thanks for the clarification. That's what I thought.

One more thing, I can't find any info on the first class product of B6. ANy insights?

Yes, but PTVs with DirecTV make those seats more comfortable than Business or First Class on other airlines (some of which may have PTV, but no DirecTV).

Besides, JetBlue has the coolest name!

Sometimes I take EA from MIA to LAX (wow those L-1011's sure are great) and then connect to Quantas so I can fly to SYD.
On the way back I take TWA or PanAm.
Where have all the tri-jets gone...
