Magnum Opus: Most Incredible Concorde Video Ever!

Thu May 20, 2004 3:20 am

Dudes!

I have to say, that this is without a doubt, the most touching and amazing Concorde video ever put together.  Wow!

Really wanna share this, and I'd like yall to pay particular attention to:
  • Concorde's unbelievable climb rate (as she rises above the Red Arrows 3:10 into the video)
  • The extremely well-photographed speed-blurred takeoff (at the end)

This video is entitled "Thank You Concorde [for 27 Supersonic Years]"

The video's entertaining, but the style reminded me of one of those boeing National Geographic videos I watched in grade school.

To add to what ConcordeBoy posted, what you are seeing is a film that was run on several video screens inside the hangar for the ceremonies on the 24th October last year.
The next two days after this, a weekend, BA staff who had won a draw were given full access to the hangar, with OAD and OAE on show and open, again the video screens played this film and all the displays and exhibits like engines, seats, intake computers, were retained for these visits.

I only get "This file is hosted by Tripod, a Lycos®Network Site, and is not available for download." if I click on it, but I could download it copying the link and pasting it in a download manager.

Thanks also to http://www.concordesst.com/ webmaster and latterly leading light in the preservation efforts of Concorde 202, Gordon Roxburgh, for putting this film into a format that you can all see and enjoy.

The video is excellent. I've not downloaded it because I have it on a CD produced by ConcordeSST.com to raise funds to get a very enthusiastic forum member on the penultimate BA001!

It brings back some good memories... I remember on the day of the Queen's Golden Jubilee flypast in 2002 I was not sure whether to go up to the palace or not, but now I'm so glad I was in the crowd of 1,000,000+ underneath G-BOAD and the red arrows.  Smile

Awesome and touching, indeed! There'll never be another like her, at least not in my lifetime. Perhaps you younger A.netters will get to see her successor, that is if you take care of yourselves. But Concorde was the plane that proved it could be done safely, comfortably and reliably. After 35 years, including the test phase, nobody can doubt SSTs are practical, if not exactly economical. If only fuel prices had stayed down over the years, darn it; there'd be a bigger Concorde 2 in service. If only...  Sad

What a gorgeous video. Thanks for that.

I agree that it is the most tasteful and beautifully done Concorde video I have seen--definitely a keeper! Unfortunately, as always when I see Concorde footage, I am left with that empty feeling inside, knowing that we won't see her flying again...

That is a truly memorable and inspiring video. Many thanks to GDB for publicizing it. I will keep it for years and years, as a reminder of what we were once able to accomplish and hopefully will again some day.
