I have flown TAP a few times and I have always found their crew very friendly and hospitable, and although I am glad to see this airline do well and join a major alliance, I somehow feel that STAR is getting a bit too big with small/mid size airlines joining. WHat is the strategy for STAR? Do they accept any airline that wishes to join? And as for hub strategy? There is Spanair next door, and I really wonder how TAP fits into the whole Star plan.
Would this mean no competition on the Brazil-Lisbon route with codeshares with Varig, where both airlines fly they might just hand it over to only one carrier to operate.
I would like to see however some presence in the Asian region, and now it looks likely with a codeshare from either LH
