Quick Reply Needed: 1.5 Hours From Plane 2 TrainN?

Fri May 21, 2004 7:33 pm

Hi folks,

I am thinking about booking a flight which will arrive into MAN at 1625. My train - the last of the day - from MAN would leave at 1757. Do you think that this would be sufficient, or do you think that I'd be pushing it a bit?

I think you have plenty of time, as long if there are no heavey delays.

Where are you flying in from?

I worked in MAN for BA for 6 months so was always commuting between the Airport and City constantly.

Im sure I can help.
Justin.

Hi folks,

It'd just be a short hop from DUB (the last leg of my trip). It'd be on good old FR.

Having transferred from T3 to MAN's train station i'd say you have plenty of time. Its a bit of a long walk (10-15mins with baggage), via T1 and then along the skylink moving walkway but you should be fine aslong as your flight isn't delayed by too much.

edit: dunno why I thought you were on BA into MAN (just got out of an exam, mind must be tired), in anycase FR use T2 and that is a shorter walk to The Station. FR are usually punctual - except of course for the only time i flew them into MAN.

Yeah, thanks. I've flown into/out of MAN quite a few times, but just need a little reassurance about this. FR's punctuality is normally very good anyway, so it should be fine.

Where are you getting your train information from? As far as I knew, Transpennine Express operate every couple of hours throughout the night after the day services have finished. Just had a look at their timetables, and there's defintely some departures after the 1757.

(Unless of course you've got a connection to make at Piccadilly and the 1757 is the last one that will allow you to do it, or there's engineering works or something... in which case ignore this reply  Smile)

Yeah there's trains from after 1757, but not to where I need to go (via Hull).  Smile I will arrive back at 2302.

Ah, I see! Fair enough. Anyway, as others have said already, unless you have a really heavy delay, I can't see you having any problems.
