How Is The New Pan Am Doing?

Sat May 22, 2004 4:16 am

Anyone have any idea? I read their info. in Air Transport World, but does anyone really know how they are doing (on the inside)?

And why would they choose 727's?

PN's unpredictable to say the least.

They pulled out of Myrtle Beach a few days ago (or so this article says: http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/8566120.htm), but they are also starting FLL-BQN, FLL-SKB and SJU-SKB in the next couple weeks.

This article (http://www.caribbeannetnews.com/2004/03/17/panam.htm) also mentions them starting up a Dominican division.

And I do wonder where they're going to place those "new" 727s that are supposed to come into service soon.

Hey,

They also have lost the contract for the SFB-FLL-POS route as well because there were many problems with their 727. On many occasions, Laker airways had to sub in for the Pan AM 727. North American Airlines has now got the contract for this route using their 757-200 and occassional 767-300.

They seem to have bailed out of MHT as of a couple weeks ago. I'll
miss the sight of the 727s making a turn for 35 over Londonderry, NH in
the morning.

PanAm III has been around for several years now, its part of
Boston Maine Airways.

They seem to start and stop new service every
few months. Sanford, Portsmouth, Gary, Allentown, San Juan

Is nothing like the ORIGINAL!

We live in Sanford FL and daily there are PanAm 727's (with winglets) flying in. Now, the Sanford airport is pretty small, so chances are that they planes aren't close to full (that's just a guess), but PanAm is alive at least..."well" -- that's up for debate.

They came to PIE for a brief while. I was going to fly some place, just for the hell of it, so I could say I'd flown Pan Am, again!
