IB to lease two 744's from Air Atlanta?

Sat May 22, 2004 11:48 pm

Maybe this was discussed at an earlier date, but I just read that Iberia was to lease two 744's for two years from Air Atlanta. Thats quite odd that they would do this conidering that they are currently receiving the A346's. Does anyone know if they are doing this as temporary replacement until they receive enough A346's in their fleet? It still see IB flying the 742 to JFK quite frequently, so I'm not sure when the last flight for the 742 will be.

I really don't know for sure, but since the thread is empty...

The 744 has more capacity than the 346, which is really a replacement for the 742.

Maybe they need an extra pax capacity boost on some routes and/or for a certain heavy traffic season...

This 744's come from SQ across Air Atlanta and they be temporary. The end of the 742's will be in 2005/6 when the 346's replace to the all 742 fleet.

Hey Andres? Que de nuevo?

I also figured it was temporary... It is not like IB to lease or buy second hand A/C's!!

And that's good too.

Will they paint them with IB c/s?

Where does Air Atlanta fly to? I've been to ATL many times and I've never seen their 747!!!!!!! Why are they leasing out their 747? Can they not compete with AirTran and Delta?

Air Atlanta is a company from Iceland, they are not a US-carrier at all.  Smile
