Adding to what Alpha 1 said a few weeks ago http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1540603/6/
I just heard from someone who has a former CO
Express manager friend in Houston and they do indeed want to add TVC to their network from Cleveland but, once again, have to wait until the new terminal is completed. It sounds like weekend only service initially. They might also look at ERJ service from EWR
to compete with AE
Another rumor being tossed around AGAIN, is that AE
may extend their DFW
-GRR flight to TVC and then possibly up to Marquette for maintenance. It would most likely be an evening flight.
With the opening of the new terminal, other airlines that have been mentioned are Chicago Express and United Airlines might again look at 737 service from ORD
during the summer, as they did back in 2001 but decided not to because the current terminal does not have sufficient room.
An update on the terminal....
The longest runway at TVC has been closed the past few days while they worked on laying the taxiways coming off the runway for the new taxiway to the terminal. Runway 18-36, 5107ft long, was taking ARJ's, ERJ's, and CRJ's. I think this is the main reason NW
pulled the DC9's for the month of May, even though they have used 18-36 runway in the past. TVC had a DC9-50 today (NW 9901), but, I am presuming runway 28-10 is open again.
Runway 10-28 will be extended, they have torn up land at both ends of the runway. No word as to how how it will be yet.
The new terminal is really coming along.
