AA: MIA-SKB Final Schedule

Mon May 24, 2004 6:26 am

AA's new Miami-St. Kitts service, talked about last week, is now open for booking. Starts 3 November 2004, this is the schedule:

AA 2299 MIA 1102-1459 SKB WeFrSu 738
AA 2280 SKB 1610-1830 MIA WeFrSu 738

Service will increase to five weekly with Thursday and Saturday flights on 2 February 2005.

I believe AA did serve the route in the late 1990s, but I am not sure.

In the late 1990s, facing little compieition in the Caribbean, American Airlines canceled many Miami-Caribbean routes, instead sending customers to connect in San Juan. However, now facing compieition from US Airways, American Airlines is protecting thier turf and re-launching Miami-Caribbean routes. St. Lucia/Hewanorra launches 1 November 2004, and both Antigua and Grenada are set to be relaunched from MIA later this year. Not really in the Caribbean, but Cozumel is also expected to be launched in late 2004/early 2005, and Hamilton, Bermuda will launch 16 March 2005 pending government approval.

Good news for AA to revamp their Caribbean service from MIA instead of having to connect in SJU. Thanks for the heads up MAH4546.

I'm actually booking a flight that will connect through SJU now. Going to EIS and am just deciding whether i should do AA/AE, or B6, CO, or DL to SJU then connect on AE or Cape Air.

Wow, that is great news for SKB and other islands that will be getting their AA jet service. I know a lot of people, locals and visitors alike, prefer flying AA.

I am a US lover, but it seems like WN isn't the only one out to kill US. I honestly believe AA can push them out of the Caribbean. Yes it is competition, but there isn't the market for that much competition in the 'small' islands of this region. Don't forget BW. JM, CO and DL scheduled service in other islands.

American Airlines is definitely wanting to improve their Caribbean service, especially out of MIA.

I was super stoked that AA is reinstating the MIA-UVF service. It was cancelled in 1999.
