Does anybody have anymore info on Bond returning to ABZ? Who have they taken work from etc?
I heard about them returning a few months back but the source was a bit sketchy and i haven't really heard anymore since.

Cheers,

S.

They have taken the BP contract from CHC Scotia and will operate 4 AS332L2 super pumas in the crew change configuration and will operate a further 2 in the SAR role based at Shetland and 1 offshore as part of the Project Jigsaw operation. The first aircraft flew in on Sunday and I beleive flights will start on the 2nd of June to drilling platforms

The BP contract!! That'll surely put CHC Scotia in a bit of trouble, that was the contract they were so happy to get from Bristows if memory serves?!
Project Jigsaw is definitely going ahead then? When I was last offshore I noticed there was a lot of information being handed around by some of the oil companies, should be good!!

The question is then;

Is there really a need for 3 Operators in the North Sea? Isn't that why Bond disappeared the last time?

Cheers,
S.

With regard to the BP contract CHC Scotia retained 40% of that when BP sold assests to Apache, so the Impact should'nt be that dramatic and CHC did'nt get that contract from Bristow they inherited it in the take over, It was Bristow who were proud at taking the Shell contract from British International (now CHC Scotia) after they had it for 27 years. With regard to 3 operators again I think that initially Bond are going to be solely BP as they financed the whole thing with the £100 million 10 year contract, but as ever I'm sure a third operator will drive down contract rates and perhaps we will see contracts moving around again so perhaps there are interesting times ahead.

I had a sneaky feeling I had got BP mixed up with Shell there. Oops!
Good for Bond, £100 Million 10 years not too shabby. I guess it's just a case of watch and see who makes the next move, should be very interesting!? Would hate to see one of the others have to leave ABZ though but I guess that's the nature of the beast!

So much for there being no money in the North Sea anymore....!

Cheers

A few related questions:

Has the new low level radar coverage for the North Sea helped things since it was introduced? (been there 2 years or so??)

Are there air traffic controllers actually on the rig where the radar is based, or is the data just relayed back to the nearest real ATC facility?

Cheers!

It's good to get some news from all the way up there!!
