SN Brussels To Start BRU-SOU

Tue May 25, 2004 12:08 am

I hear SNBA are preparing to commence 2 x Daily SOU-BRU flights (codeshared with BA). Also FlyBe are planning the same route.
No doubt the Belgian government will keep pouring money into SN to force BE off this route  Insane  Insane

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Avoid posting "Me Too" messages. These are messages that are posted by people who agree to a point being discussed and post a one liner, "me too!", "Good post Jim!", "I disagree" or similar message. This takes up time as readers must sort through these messages which have no real value to the group at large. Any message containing nothing more than a line or two of text is probably not worth posting.

If you have an opinion on a topic, you should in detail express why you have the opinion and what made you come to that conclusion.

Your post should be relevant to the topic discussed.

Presumably SN using the Avro RJ85, and BE the DHC8-400.
You can book the SN flights on their website.

NO NO NO Gkirk! lol

I made the same mistake! I read the post on PPRUNE, it was from LAST year, I thought it was strange, and so checked the dates, the post is dated 2003, it has just had a recent posting to bring it back into the forum.

BA already code shares with SN on the SOU-BRU route, and Flybe are not planning a SOU-BRU route.

T'was the reason why BE dropped the BRU-BHX,NCL and EDI flights...

What was? The competition from SNBA or the 'Belgian government pouring money into SNBA'? FYI, SNBA is NOT owned by the Belgian government. Not to mention the fact that it is actually profitable...

Graham: SN is not state-owned, and does not get money from the Government.

SN is codesharing with BA between BRU and SOU, and both daily flights are operated by a DHC8-300 of BA Citiexpress.

Scorpio, Im only iterating what was said by FlyBe when they dropped the routes. Now with EZY potentially going to start flights to BRU, then SN will have a bigger fight on its hands, especially if EZY start routes such as LGW-BRU,BRS-BRU and NCL-BRU

As I have set out some time ago, I wouldn't expect to see EZY in Brussels soon....

Gkirk , you have NO idea what you're talking about. That's the big problem about this forum... I never thought you were like one of THOSE. Your comments on NCL always seemed well informed.

Belgian aviation has so many problems at the present time. SN seems to be the only airline that can survive playing fair game thanks to great management. Two years ago no one would have betted on their survival. Look where they are today , and yet they have acheived this completely on their own. They are not accountable to anyone.

Graham, how can SN be the reason why FlyBE dropped BRU-EDI? They never flew that route...

About BRU-BHX and BRU-NCL: the fares did not go up as far as I know after that FlyBE stopped serving this route. SN had the better product, and for the same fares, why would anyone fly FlyBE?

FlyBE is of course going to blame SNBA for the fact they had to stop serving those routes. That's easier, instead of admitting that 2 carriers on those routes was too much.

BA and SN have understood this, from their the extensive codeshares on the BRU-UK flights.

SAA-SAL, thats not my own opinion, what I was trying to say (very badly) is that BE announced that the reason that they dropped their BRU-UK flights was because of illegal subsidies or something, I will try and find the press release which states that. So I guess I fell for poor media reporting  Sad
Indeed, SN seem to be doing very well at NCL now, with the afternoon flight usually producing an A319 nowadays. Which is good to see, as NCL is being overtaken by EZY now  Nuts

Graham, how can SN be the reason why FlyBE dropped BRU-EDI? They never flew that route...
My bad Embarrassment I thought that they had, so apologies.

There is not a big enough O+D leisure market for EZY flights from NCL and BRS to BRU. The majority of pax are either connecting in BRU or need a same day UK/BRU return. EZY could certainly not support 2 daily NCL-BRU or BRS-BRU flights.

Vex struggles in BRU, there is nothing for EZY to gain by going into BRU.

HUYfan, I wouldnt have thought there to have been a big market for EZY to do 1 Daily NCL-SXF, but apparently the route is doing very well so far.

Berlin is more of a leisure city than BRU is, I will eat my wings if EZY start BRU ops from NCL, but i suppose stranger things have happened!

Guys, sorry to drift away from the topic of this thread. I would like to ask if any of you works for SN. If so, please send me a private e-mail so as not to disrupt the thread further. I need to double-check some information regarding an SN flight I will be taking in July... the person who took my call at the U.S. customer assistance hotline was not very knowledgeable and, although I received an e-mail from an SN Belgian customer assistance representative with some info, I would still like to double-check.

Thanks a lot!!! (and sorry for the disruption). Oh, and I am very, very excited to be on an SN flight. I have read here very nice things about the airline!
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738
