STL Gets New USA3000 Service To Florida

Tue May 25, 2004 3:15 am

Service to RSW
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040524/phm022_1.html

And to Clearwater, St. Pet.
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040524/phm025a_1.html

Is this the first service of USA3000 to STL? Looks like this new service will make for (I estimate) 8 new flights a week.

keep those new flights coming.

Why not about flying from STL-FLL and it is always full flight on AA their way to FLL.

Scotty,
While indeed the flights are consistently full on AA from STL to FLL, WN is on that route and it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to fly it in my mind with the competition. The route is probably just about right with the current 300 or so daily seats that are on it.

As for the new routes, RSW makes a lot of sense as it is currently underserved by our daily S80 by AA. It is a consistent money-maker for AA and it will be interesting to see what AA's response is, probably upgrading it to a 757 or offering a second daily on the days that USA3000 will offer flights. Hopefully AA will be able to coexist on the route along with USA3000, but we all know how AA deals with LCC competition in STL.  Sad

I have my doubts about the Clearwater service working, our o/d to that area is less than spectacular.

Good to see that USA3000 is entering the market however, I believe that they are trying to get CZM and CUN as well. That would make 13 weekly flights which would equate into a fairly large station for USA3000.

Yep Scotty

Hopefully they will find the STL-Florida market to be underserved and add more flights. Ya'll know I all about more flights to STL.

But from the looks of their timetable they do not serve FLL. Seems they focus mainly on the RSW and PIE.

Lambertman, here is the Yahoo website. Its one of my favorites for airline news.

I bet AA is feeling a little more competitive these days. I sure don't see them dropping STL-RSW. Do you?

USA3000 is owned by a company called Apple Vacations and the reason for these Florida flights is when they are not flying charter flights for the parent company Apple vacations it makes sense to run some easy sells down to Florida and make some if not a whole lot of money.
You can cut the irony with a knife

Thank you for that atc, I could never find that site for some reason.

Concerning charter vacations, when did they swtich to flying 752's? I was getting gas at the Phillips 66 today over by Natural Bridge and it looked like a Transmeridian 757 was climbing out.....

One other thing, the use of gates by AA lately has been kind of odd. It appears as though mainline is using 3 gates at the end of the south side of C and random gates on the north side. I thought the south side of C was reserved for RJ's. Pilotpip what gives?

The entire south side of C is not all for RJs only; there are several gates on the southside that are capable of handling various equipment.
In the Alaska bush I'd rather have a two hour bladder and three hours of gas than vice versa.

Any new service for STL is great, but my concern is: If USA3000 scores the CUN rights out of STL, will F9 lose interest in building up STL? F9 would be a much better choice for the authority IMO, as it might give F9 the motivation to gradually add some more service.

LambertMan: If you're still interested in that TWA 2000 timetable, it turns out I have 2, neither are in pristine condition but you can have one f.o.c. if you want it.

Air,

I know that they can still handle a larger aircraft but I was under the impression that south was RJ's and north was mainline. Guess not....

Ozark,

It seems as though Champion and Frontier are in the lead for CUN. Champion applied first and Frontier has Griggs' support, so my guess would be its up in the air between those two. I think its possible we could still see some small growth by Frontier even if the service isn't granted.

Thanks for the offer but I bought a couple. Couple old ones (one w/ the ATL hub) just for my enjoyment outside of my academic needs.
