FlyI Truck At RDU Today

Wed May 26, 2004 12:32 pm

I saw the Fly I truck at RDU today.. was wondering if one of the I-jets was there also and I just missed it. Does anyone know what the details of the news conference was? Were any freebies given out? As of 7pm.. it was still parked at RDU. Anyone have any details...

What happens when the jetTRUCK makes a stop in a city? What is the "event" that it's there for? I'm planning to be there on 6/21/04 when (I'm assuming) it's at GSP.

By the way, the iJET was in BOS today for the press. We all got a chance to board it and check out the interior. I must say, this is not any typical CRJ that I've been on. Its awesome!! The MOST comfy RJ seats EVER! I think that these seats that were ordered for the iJET are the only ones of its kind, only on our planes. Absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to work on it!

Well, as for the fly accross america tour, I'll find out more details for ya on that. As for the seats on the iJET, when I sat in that today, it was just amazing for and RJ, from my point of view that is. To me, they seem much 'fuller' than the typical RJ seats of feeder carriers. Very soft comfy leather, feels like its hugging you sort of. I can sit in it for a long time and I don't think I'll go crazy. The color is really cool, they are the color of the engines, that purple kinda color. Very pleasing to my eye. Nice big tray tables, and cool looking carpeting. I must say, the seats actually drew my attention away from the negative "window level". You plant yourself in it, sit back, relax, and just daydream, or do like me and still look out the window at the awesome lil' 'i' on the winglet. The space seems good too, although I didn't pay much attention to it and it all happened so fast anyway. I'm still kinda "high" from the whole thing. When the tour gets to your airport, make sure and be there. Today we had free t-shirts, bag tags, 'i' stickers, coozies (if that's how its spelled), and a nice folder type of presentation and a high quality glossy photo of the iJET and other lil' brochures I think. I can't wait to non-rev on a flight and really test out those awesome seats!

Way Cool! This might seem funny, but could you find out if they're hiriing at GSP? I'm kinda burned out on my phone-based Customer Service job. I'd love to be part of it all!

Well, I assume when it comes to your airport, it will be held at the gate. It may be outside security too, I'm not sure. But employees were able to go on the iJET, I'm a Delta Connection FA, so all of us iAir employees who were there got on. It would'nt hurt for ya to ask though.

all the gates are past security, and CRW doesnt do gate passes, though there are commercial parking spots where you can walk down stairs and be on the tarmac. Im wondering if its open to the public or not.

were was the publicity? how was I supposed to know when and where? I was robbed! And why is the jetTruck still at RDU? Is it going to be here for a while? OH well, only 20 more days till the inagural flight... Does ANYONE know WHICH gates FlyI is going to use at ANY of their airports? I am making a BIG assumption that they will use A11 & A12 at RDU.. but I don't know yet! No formal declaration.. no advertisement.. no name addition to the list on the boards or online.. No commercials.. What's the deal? I remember when airlines use to advertise the hell out of some billboards around the airport. Not anymore! Except Southwest.. but then I guess that's why they are #1 at RDU... they advertise on e'vythang!

at CRW ACA uses gate A and gate 10, they park 2 aircraft at gate 10, a crj on the jetway and a js-41 beside it accesable from the jetway stairs. and 4 aircrafts can be parked at gate 10, 3 stands, 1 jetway.

For all you who wanted to know about the seats.. theyre brand new and we're designed just for Independence. I work for Indy so i've been able to sit in them several times and theyre AMAZING. Theyre more comfortable than ANY Y-class seat ive ever sat in and most business class seats for that matter...and plus.. they look really cool too.  Smile

Okay.. went by RDU again today, and the FlyI jetTruck is still in RDU.. is it here to stay for a while or are they gonna drive that puppy other places? Are they going to drive it around the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill-Cary metro? What are the plans? BTW.. Very cute tail on the chevy.. even if it is a chevy.

KcrwFlyer-

The flyI tour thing comes to Yeager July1- launch date, as you already know, is July 23. I would speculate that only badged employees will be permitted through security to board the aircraft, although, as someone mentioned above; the festivities and free stuff will be outside of security. Hope that helps!

This might be slightly off topic....

But I've been wondering what are they doing with the CRJ they have already painted in Independence Colors? Is it out there flying UA Express routes (since it is an ACA plane)... or have they parked it at Dulles?

Just curious.
