Gulf Air Problems At BEY!

Wed May 26, 2004 6:44 pm

I was flying GF from Beirut to Bharain on Mayy 22. We get on the plane and sit down for half an hour. The pilot then tells us, that there is a problem with a valve and within 10-15 mintues we would take off. After half an hour the pilot says that we have a "problem with the paper work". What was really going on was that when the flight enginer did the flight check some kind of valve was not working, he reported it the tower and tower sent him a MASCO enginer. The enginer said that they did not have this part in stock at BEY. The pilot then said he did not need the part to fly, all he needed was the enginer's singnature on the paper work. As we all know, BEY saftey is very thight, and the enginer did not sign. (This is all happening while we are on the aircraft- A320). So we get off the plane and GF, have no clue what to do. Then GF916 comes in from Aub Dhabi, and by luck the plane is almost empty, But the plane going to Bharain is full, and any passenger willing to go on the flight the next day get 2 free J class ticket to any where in the world.

Do anyone have any info on what happened? Most of you guys have friends at BEY so what was wrong with this valve? They had to send a spare on Ethaid the next day.

What?, none of you guys know anything?

Anyway, Lets change the subject. My dad says that they have a old MEA B707 next to the sea runway (18/36). I tell him no there is no B707 in anywher near the runway. I asked him if he ment the MEA hangars he says no, its right on the runway. So whats the answer, Is there a B707 on the Airport grounds or not?

Actually there's a few 707s parked around the airport.
There's one parked at the end of runway 36,where the VIP terminal is being built.
A correction, the sea runway is 17/35,&true,there is a 707 parked next to it by the sea side, here's a photo, you can see the 707 in the red frame:

Your Dad is right...

There is a MEA B707 sitting on the ground, south of the airport next to the sea, close to the ex-Rnw 18/36.

I saw it clearly yesturday Sat. May 29th while taking from BEY on AF565, B772ER, F-GSPV.
We took off facing south from Rnw 21, as usual. I was sitting on the right side, window seat 6L and I could see it right after take off.
