Fokker 100 Or MD88

Hi friends,
Just curious, which one do you like? What are the main differences that come to your mind. I flew on a Fok 100 for the first time this March and wasn't that impressed and am going to fly DL's MD88 this summer and wanted to know what to expect. From my perspective, they seem to have somewhat of a samebody style and size seems pretty much the same. Any info or your experiences with either would be great.

Neither. They both suck too much gas.

I prefer the always seemed a tad quieter to me. The seats in 1st on US seemed a little narrower than normal, but all of my experiences on the F100 were pleasant.

Still, having worked ramp for DL at one time, my perspective is probably colored by the fact that I HATED getting into the bins on the MD88. Nothing to do with the passenger experience, but I just don't like that airplane anymore.  Smile

MD 88 and F100 are quite different planes: the first is a really narrowbody with large pax number (163 in a single class config) with a medium haul range (it has the longest range in MD family). F100 is a regional aircraft with at the most 112 PAX and a quite shorther range.

Both of them, in my opinion seems to be powerfull during take off and the initial climb. F100 is in my opinion a bit quiter, but also all the MD series if You don't choose the last rows, near the engine, is comfortable.

In my opinion only the general style with two rear engine is similar.

Fokker's fuselage (F70/F100) is about 7" narrower than the MD80 series... Basically everything inside gets reduced dimensions abreast-wise. I can stand three-four hour flights in MD's, but an hour inside a Fokker makes me feel claustrophobic. Notice the standard cushion at the top of the low doorway (only 5'8") upon entering - to avoid banging your head. MD's doorway must be at least 5-6" higher.

Bottomline, it feels smaller... Which gives it some "private jet" feeling too (if flying half-empty or in first).
