BOS-CMH Or NYC-CMH In 1950

Sat May 29, 2004 7:36 am

A friend of mine is writing a novel and asked me to do some fact checking. Were there direct flights from Boston or New York to Columbus, Ohio in 1950?

If so, whatever information you have would be helpful. What were the airports called at that time? Which airlines served this market? With what equipment? Were there en route stops?

Thanks!

My mother used to be a stewardess for TW and she used to fly from CMH to both LGA and Boston and the airports were then known as LaGuardia and Logan. I want to say the made stops at PIT. I'm sure AA and UA had some kind of service then as well. Someone on the forum might have access to older schedules or timetables from that time.
Good Luck!  Smile

AA would have had service something like LGA-BUF-CLE-CMH, probably with a change in BUF using CV-240's or DC-3's.

Not sure, but I think the commercial airport was Rickenbacher or Lockbourne Air Force Base then.

Correction - it wasn't Rickenbacher, it was Port Columbus, then called Columbus Municipal Airpoprt.
