I'm trying to warm up to it...but it just plain looks cheap. Particularly when parked next to the previous scheme (well, one in good condition).

lol... its suppose to be cheap  Big grin UA got away with a new CS in bankrupcy because the new colorscheme is a greater simplification over the old colors. It cost less to repaint. I love it personally.

It's okay, the last topic on this was posted a while ago.

That said, i don't like the look of this scheme on the 757. It makes the plane look fat for some reason.

Well, we here at Embraer-Nashville delivered the 3rd EMB-145 in 'new' United colors just last night....this one to Chautauqa. We also are about to deliver our 2nd Saab 340 in 'new' United colors very soon.

It's really not a bad scheme. I like the retro quality to it, but I wish the blue were darker and the top stripe red. It'd look alot better that way.

Ooh... someone get me some water, quick... I may pass out.

That plane looks gooooooooooooood. Better than the 777 in new colors, I think.

Caught this one hanging out the window of my car this afternoon - saw it too late to get a good shot, but it still looks good. United Rising from SEA!

Saw also 744 N173UA at Sea-Tac this morning.

LN-MOW...

Ha! I was right...I thought I saw a 757 in the new colors on it's way into SEA around lunchtime today...

I agree...the new paint job can stay, but I wish it would have some red and/or orange on it.

The new livery is beautiful. It has so much more life than its predecessor, which I always found drab.

You wanna have some fun?
Check out the photo of the UA in new colors.
Now, go check out a JetBlue Airbus in their paint scheme and post what you see.

It's sad that UA can't afford to paint individual tails.  Wink/being sarcastic

The plane was out for a while. I saw it in DEN today, departing to LGA. It was my 4th headline too  Smile. By the way, just for your information - N508UA is also painted in new colors, and N510 is at AMA getting repainted.

People gotta stop saying it needs a "red" stripe or an "orange" stripe...These colors are completely obsolete and actually have been for some time now in all the other UA marketing materials. UA's corporate colors are blue and the only other contrasting colors are white and silver. Perhaps a "silver" stripe would have been a nice addition but I like it the way it is...REMEMBER - the livery looks MUCH better in person. Actually looks GREAT!!

I love it, plain and simple.

The old design was kind of stodgy.

However, the old orange tricolor from the 70's and 80's had some charm as well.

I do like the new design, but i also agree that it looks very LCC. The old one was sooooo professional, so business. Just looking at it made you think "i am privelaged to be gazing upon this beautiful airplane". It embodied the epitome of what a legacy carrier should be.

I don't think that you know what you are talking about. Have you been or seen UA HQ in ORD? The United logo is and always will be blue and red. Have you seen the UA training center at DEN? Again, HUGE logo in red and blue. Hmmm now funny but all the employee badges are still the same UA colors as always. The new blue color scheme that UA is using is the brighten things up. Uniteds logo has and always will be red and blue. It is one of the most recognized logos in all of the world. Why would anyone change that. The livery might have changed but never the logo.....

Now I agree with the rest of you, I miss the orange and red in the livery. I would like to see the tail logo in their corp. colors, or even orange.

Yes, the classic "Tulip" symbol in it's own right remains red and blue; however, the fresher more modern design is now the "Tulip Sweep". This is what the customer sees on almost everything now from airport signage, promotional materials and now on the tail of UA aircraft. It is simply the Tulip symbol with the upper right portion swept off the page using a graduating shade of blue or silver color - no red..........This new livery now brings everything together in one branded identity.

All I have to say is that the 757 looks good in anything!! I just wish they would add one small strip of orange to brighten up the whole color scheme-- then it would be an amazing looking a/c.

Look closely at the first picture and see that the Sweeping Tulip is different than the tulip near the Text.

UAFAN17,
This was talk about awhile back as well, I was told it is because they were painted in two different shops.

I like this scheme, and the one before the battleship grey. And this thread being an example that UAL and others wont ever be able to please everyone.

I wish ual would paint a plane per scheme they have ever had, retro planes. Have a friendship scheme on a 777 or the white one before the grey? Would be cool.

That is one FINE looking plane!

UAL747DEN...

You are correct, the red will remain in the United logo, however the product branding is a bit different and will is meant to be a bit "sleeker". The Blue/Red tulip will hopefully never go away. It is still at the top of united.com and in most publications.

In my opinion though, its not such a good idea to compare current logos to those at WHQ. I mean, look at the sign on the front entrances! I think those were put up when the original building was built! And the one at the flight training center was put up in the 90s when that new building was built.

We need to rally for some new signs at WHQ!!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Cheers!

Why is the rear bottom of the fuselage painted white instead of blue?

Look at that picture of the underside of the plane. Behind the mains, the blue doesn't completely cover the bottom of the plane. Why is that?
