Virgin A340 At IAD Early This Month.

Tue Jun 01, 2004 11:58 am

I was at IAD on May 11th and there was a Virgin A340 sitting in one of the non-movement areas. I was wondering if anyone had any info on this plane like registration and an idea why it was there. It was there for at least 4 days because someone I know saw it there a few days later. Thanks for the help.

Just a guess, but maybe it was Virgin 21 Heavy (A346) having some quick maintenance done.

I believe that it was G-VMEG.

That a/c had been having a recurring landing gear indication problem that could not be resolved at IAD. Last I heard was that the a/c was going to be ferried to an airport in Canada, so Air Canada could perform a gear swing to try and rectify the problem.

Not heard what happend to it since then though.

G-VMEG ferried back to LHR on 15th May, and did the VS900 to Narita the next day.

Maybe the captain was in the Pub? I believe the local pubs at IAD are quite popular with the VS crew  Laugh out loud
