I think 1999 was a year with quite a bunch of highlights in the regional avation. The ERJ-170 and ERJ-190-200 were launched on the Aérosalon in Le Bourget with Crossair being the lauch customer for both versions with an order for up to 160 planes and Regional Airlines for 15 ERJ-170. On the EAA meeting in autumn 1999 the launched a 44-seater, the ERJ-140 which has so far no announced customers.
Only a few weeks earlier Lufthansa CityLine had become launch customer for the 728JET from Fairchild Dornier, comitting for 60 firm orders and another 60 options. Fairchild also handed over the first 328JET, a 30-seater, to Skyway Airlines, the feeder division of Midwest Express. In the 2nd half of 1999 Atlantic Coast Airlines placed an order for 40 328JET and 40 428JET, becoming the launch customer for the streched 328JET.
ATR only sold a few new planes, mainly to customers from Europe such as Eurowings (5 ATR 42-500) and Air Dolomiti. The handed over the first ATR 72-500 to an indian airline, Jet Airways.
BAe Avro sold a few RJs, mainly of the version 100. The steped up with the so-called Avro RJ-X, a modernized Avro RJ with new engines and other features. So fa customer interest is said to be low.
Bombardier had quite a good year, the won new customers from several countries, especially for the CRJ200. The CRJ700 programm made progress as well as the Dash 8-Q400 did. The first one was recently handed over to SAS Communter.
