On the mystery flights i did on QF
, The destination was not known until the day before when i had to call them. The last one i did in 2000, we ended up in SYD
which was not suprising given the extra capacity QF
had put on for the Olympics that started later that week. I do know of people that had gotten seats to PER
and even one to DRW
. Excellant value for the $160 or whatever it was.
Given that the airfare structure in OZ
in now based on one way fares, it is not likely to see these mystery flights return. The $160 price tag would get you a MEL
ticket most times of the year anyway, with the benifit of knowing where you are going and being able to plan your time in the city you are visiting. Having said that, QF
did have mystery flights available out of MEL
over the easter weekend for under $200 (can't remember exactly) with all proceeds going to the Royal Childrens Hospital Appeal here in Melbourne. This was in conjunction with the scenic flights they had.
