Philippines - Whats The Deal With Them?

Fri Jun 11, 2004 10:42 pm

Hi guys,

Whats the deal with Philippines - are they Government owned? Do Lufthansa have a share in the company through the Lufthansa Technik AG arrangement to maintain their planes? If not, then who does own them?

Whats their future fleet plans? What about current fleet plans - do they lease extra capacity during the high season?
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

PAL is now largely privatized and the majority of the shares are owned by business tycoon Lucio Tan. Last time I checked LH does not have shares in PAL. As for fleet plans, all I heard so far is that there was/is plans on replacing the narrowbody fleet and consolidate it into one family as well as aquiring more second hand 744s. I don't think they wet-lease aircraft on high seasons and they basically they work with what they have and utilize them to the max, but the entire PAL fleet is dry-leased from various creditors. PR is also planning to return to Europe within the next three years as well as planning to expand NAIA Terminal 2 at AB) (MNL / RPLL), Philippines">MNL. (Just found out about the latter a few moments ago.)
