Will JetBlue Ever Expand At MSY?

Tue Jun 15, 2004 7:37 am

MSY has been on B6's route network since July 2002, and it hasn't seen much growth at all. Currently the airline offers 2 flights to MSY from their JFK hub, and from what I've heard, they have excellent loads on both flights.

My question is: Why doesn't B6 expand at MSY? They could easily add a 3rd flight to JFK, and even start service to upstate NY when the E190's come in. I could also see them being successful to OAK, BOS, IAD, and ONT/LGB. I know that WN has a large presence there, but I used to live in New Orleans, and WN's presense has never been too large.

Has anyone heard anything about new B6 service to MSY? What are your thoughts about this - would JetBlue be successful if they made MSY a larger operation?

Any comments and feedback and welcomed and encouraged.

Yes, this is very good answer question about MSY and if even want to make expanded more flights from BOS, IAD, OAK, LGB & FLL. I know WN already twice daily from FLL-MSY.

On a slightly different track, I'm surprised MSY doesn't do better on O&D/holiday traffic from Europe.

There are literally millions of seats annually to the Florida resorts, but if someone wishes to go and see what New Orleans is all about then it's not exactly the Big Easy to do! However many people I've spoken to have all said they would love to visit and see what it's all about.

To a degree the same could be said about Nashville.

Maybe it's something TUI, Thomas Cook or First Choice could consider for the future. I'm sure the local spotters would love to see the Euro charter fleet regularly at MSY!
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

I have asked myself the same question, been trying to fly B6 from MSY to LGB but they don't connect. Besides that I am still waiting for Midwest to make a grand appearance down here.

This is much better than other airlines to LAX and if the competition of UA & WN to LAX and will even jetBlue added from MSY-LGB.

I think you will eventually see a MSY-BOS flight on jetBlue. The seasonal AA service is very successful, and with 300+ O/D passengers in the market per day, a daily 190 flight could do very well for B6.

I am good friends with one of the B6 agents here in MSY (she was my former manager at Vanguard) so she keeps me up to date with how things are going for the airline down here, and from what she says, they are enjoying great loads on both JFK flights. I think you will probably see a 3rd JFK added once the 190's start to come on line.

MSY-LGB and MSY-SEA seem like two markets which would be very successful for B6. Hopefully one day.
