Anyway, his whole conspiracy theory stems from the fact there were and still are conflicting reports regarding Flight 11's exact departure gate. Was it Gate 26 or was it Gate 32?
The transcripts seem to indicate Gate 32.
7:45:48 -- Ground Control 1: American eleven heavy boston ground gate thirty two you're going to wait for a Saab to go by then push back.
7:45:58 -- AAL11: After the Saab cleared to push, and we're gonna need four right today, American eleven heavy.
Gate 32 was also reported by the Boston Globe on September 11.
One airport employee, who asked not to be identified, said the American flight left on time from Gate 32 in Terminal B, and that nothing unusual was apparent. The employee said airline workers learned almost simultaneously that there had been explosions at the World Trade Center and that air traffic control had lost contact with the American flight.
But then a day later the story changed.
The American flight left from Gate 26 in Terminal B, and the United flight from Gate 19 in Terminal C. One airport employee said nothing unusual was apparent when the American flight left, and airline workers learned almost simultaneously that there had been explosions at the World Trade Center and that air traffic control had lost contact with the American flight.
American Airlines Flight 11 had backed away from Gate 26 of Terminal B at Boston's Logan Airport and was rolling toward the runway for a six-hour flight to Los Angeles.
The captain was John Ogonowski, a 52-year-old man from Dracut. His first officer was Thomas McGuinness, 42, of Portsmouth, N.H. Also aboard were nine flight attendants and 81 passengers, for a total of 92 people on the flight manifest when the plane pushed back from Gate 26 at Logan International Airport.
On the one-year anniversary of the attacks, there still seemed to be some question as to what gate Flight 11 had departed from. The Boston Globe, who had originally reported Gate 32 wrote a story that began:
Sylvio Amorino, just off a flight yesterday morning, simply stood there in front of Gate 26, Terminal B, Logan Airport. It was 7:55 a.m. The 70-year-old realized that, one year ago, American Airlines Flight 11 had idled here.
Meanwhile, another Boston paper reports that
At 7:40 a.m. today, about 200 American Airlines employees gathered at Gate 32 at Logan Airport, the point of departure for Flight 11 exactly one year before. They observed the anniversary with a memorial service for the crew and passengers aboard the hijacked flight, which crashed into the World Trade Center in New York at 8:46
An American Airlines passenger waiting to board a 7:00 a.m. flight from Boston to San Juan on September 11, 2001 describes seeing the plane come in from LAX at the adjacent gate and seeing about 40 passengers get off and then she watched as the agents changed the signs at the podium to read Flight 11 7:45 departure back to LAX. She sees some of the passengers begin to arrive for Flight 11 but then boards her flight.
The woman's story sounds legit, as there was an AA flight to SJU, Flight 1019 that was scheduled to depart at 6:55 a.m. It pushed back at 7:00 and took off at 7:14. That's probably the flight she was taking.
Flight 11 did come in from the west coast as Flight 198 and arrived at the gate 21 minutes ahead of it's scheduled 6:24 arrival time at 6:03 but it was from SFO, not LAX as the woman says in her story.
According to the on-time stats at the Bureau of Transportation, Flight 192 from LAX arrived 31 minutes ahead of it's scheduled 6:33 arrival time at 6:02 just as N334AA was arriving from BOS. Another red-eye from the west coast, Flight 138 from SJCwas supposed to have arrived at 6:01 but was an hour and fifteen late arriving at 7:16. It then turned around and opereated as the 8:20 departure to SJU, Flight 1971, and actually pushed back from the gate 11 minutes early and took off at 8:34 This flight would have been arriving at it's gate as her flight was taking off so that's not the one she saw.
Maybe she got the two mixed up? Or maybe there was a gate change announcement which came after the SJU pasenger had boarded her flight? Had the passengers originally checked in at one gate but then told to go to another to board their flight?
I'm not even going to begin to refute some of this person's wilder accusations regarding his theories about the discrepancies. I just want to know what gate did Flight 11 depart from at BOS on September 11, 2001?
