JGPH1A You beat me to it!
It is not a connecting flight - the passenger has an origin and destination in two different countries, transferring through a third with the two airports 40 miles apart. This means that if the bags were to be transferred between LHR
it would mean that the vehicle would have to be Bonded by HM
Customs. There used to be a service like that, but regretably an unfortunate BA
driver of one of these vehicles was involved in an accident on the M25 Motorway from which he died. I won't go into security aspects of such a transfer - I'll leave that to your wildest imagination! However, as we haven't been told the actual BA
flights details, I wouldn't mind betting that this journey is on two separate tickets, CPHLHR, LGWBOD, which means again, that they are not connecting, and you wouldn't 'officially' be allowed to through check them, even at the same transfer airport. Anyway BA
stopped the physical transfer of baggage between LHR
some time ago!
The helicopter service stopped when the M25 opened - more like early 80s, rather than 90s.
The best way to transfer is with the National Expresss coach which I believe not only collects people from all the terminals at LHR
, but also goes to both North and South Terminals at LGW
- and it is one simple get-on, get-off, journey!
