Frontier: 2 Daily DEN-MSY As Of 8/15

Sat Jun 19, 2004 12:26 am

F9 will offer two daily A319 nonstop flights between DEN and MSY as of 8/15/04.

Departures from DEN will be at 10:50am and 1:15pm, with the return flights leaving MSY at 3:05pm and 6:20pm.

This will give F9 the last nonstop of the day between MSY and DEN.

This new flight, unlike the extra Mardi Gras flight, will operate through at least May...possibly year-round.

Good stuff.

The Buzz from the Bees is that they've been "studying" some point-to-point to/from here. Know any word on that?

Hey Fred, well, I can't say much (as nothing official has been announced yet), but I will say that I have a hunch that you'll see LAX-MSY before too long. The numbers are there for the service to be successful.

And if I had my way (which I don't), I'd love to see a daily MSY-MCI-DEN one-stop flight flown with a CR7 or 318. It would re-introduce nonstop servcice between MSY and MCI. Vanguard got a decent amount of local traffic between the two cities (on average I'd say about 60-70 passengers per flight just travelling between MCI and MSY), so I would expect F9 to get the same.

I must stay I'm still rather surprised at how we could go from up to six daily MCI-MSYs to zero in less than 3yrs.

WN's been surprisingly stagnant here save for the new PHL run.

You are right about Southwest being stagnant. One new flight added in over two years. Wowww! Talk about impressive! Way to go WN!!!

AA has actually claimed the title of "2nd largest carrier in New Orleans" in April in terms of total passenger boardings. As of October they'll be running 19 mainline and 1 connection flight a day. Not too bad considering just a couple of years back they only had about 11 total flights. Who would have ever guessed that AA, who didn't start service here until 1981 or something like that, would surpass DELTA AIR LINES in terms of the number of passengers and the number of daily mainline flights from New Orleans. Unreal.

Particularly considering the number of gates that they've all-but-been given as of late... many of which are remaining unused.

Once DL brings back the 767s, I doubt that'll last all that long.

Hey Steve-

How've you been??? I've been cool.....just reallllly exhausted out here. Our focus flights have been FULL.....which is good.  Smile

I'm still crossing my fingers on the LAX-MSY run.... Glad to hear MSY service upgraded. After early next year (?), we wont have to worry about equipment upgrades anymore.  Laugh out loud

If you're ever out in L.A., you know where to go. If you want to, just take a day trip. Also, isn't there a thing where agents can swap places to see what it's like at another station?

Travis/LAX

Wishing all the F9 MSY folks an awesome start to the summer season.

You're not the only one... though, I'd take it a step further: LAX-MSY-CUN  Big grin

I've heard tell that the airline's looked carefully at both markets from here, and liked what it saw...

...but has issues with the expense of operating here (we were, and possible still are, their most expensive station; per operation).

If any of you Frontier-ites can confirm or expand on that, speak up!  Smile

From what limited knowledge I have of the MSY operation, I have also head that it is one of (if not) the most expensive airport we operate at. I think the landing fees are something along the lines of $4 per 1000 lbs landed. Yikes!

As with many other airports, the airport leases are being negotiated, so hopefully the costs will drop if a signatory contract is signed at MSY.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe we already operate off a gate with access into the Customs and Immigration facilities in MSY. This seems like it would be a fairly seamless addition for CUN service.

What are the O&D numbers on MSY-CUN? Anything like SLC/MCI?

Hey Steve,

I just checked our new station schedule for 8/15 sent to our CSS's and our station manager... we're getting a daily direct flight from LAX to MSY!!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Of course, the stopover is in DENBig grin

I hope this is a prelude for better things to come!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Hey Travis,

This is good news. LAX has always been a top destination from MSY. Direct flights are certainly more convenient than connecting flights (although let's face it, connecting in DEN is not exactly a pain in the neck). As a matter of fact, we will have the latest "direct" flight between MSY and LAX. Continental has a 753 going out at 3:37pm, and after that, only United's 7:20pm nonstop and connecting service. Like you, I also hope that this is a sign of better things to come. I have a good feeling about it anyway!

Perhaps.

...I'd personally rather connect if I have to experience downtime somewhere though.  Sad
