Not even remotely. Not even half empty with a 747-400ER.

The route requires an A340-500 or a 777-200LR.

Only empty...and likely with extra tankage.....
and maybe not at that...

Didn't Qantas do LHR-SYD with an empty -400 on delivery?

just to know....the info about the 747-400ER says that the range of this aircraft is 7670nm (sin-lax 7606), in addition the capacity of this aircraft if 416pax . Sq configuration is 316pax in their A340-500, so 100pax + baggage is about 31000lbs less (170lbs*pax + 140lbs bag = 31000lbs)...isn't this a litlle of more range
also how do you get this range from? isn't start engines, taxi, take off, and climb distance included ?
I love you barranquilla!!!!!

While no 747 can viably operate SIN-LAX nonstop in commercial service, your emboldened quotations are going slightly overboard fellas:

Remember that UA used to operate JFK-HKG with a payload restricted 744A, a route that's "only" 607nm longer.

Indeed they did.

You guys are exaggerating. Not even remotely? only empty? Well it can make it to manila from los angeles...to singapore from manila it is 1300 nautical miles. Not like crossing the street...but let's not underestimate the abilities of the queen of the skies.

And on the return leg, the 747-400ER can in fact do it.

PARIS, FRANCE...THE BEIRUT OF EUROPE.

Scarily enough, I'll actually agree with Solnabo--

--dont get me wrong, it'd be fun to see another 747.
Just that considering history and the incredible ability/versatility of the 777 family; just seems that the next 747Adv or whatever the heck they're calling it now is going to be a flop just like all the other proposals.
