"Spirit Of Delta" Flight Today In Atlanta

Sat Jun 19, 2004 6:50 am

Just wanted to share with everyone that we (My Wife and I were treated to a very nice sightseeing flight on the Spirit of Delta today). 4000 feet - 5000 feet in altitude around the Atlanta area and North Georgia. It was absolutely wonderful. The fly by (Low Approach as the captain called it) at just over 100 feet off the hard deck of Hartsfield was Great.

I was wondering if anyone out there saw it and got pictures of it? I don't think that it was publicized but it sure would be great to have a picture of the fly by.

Thanks in advance

When was that? That must have been why I saw her flying over around 3pm. I was thinking, "I thought she was supposed to be doing the flight for the auction winners." Unfortunately, I wasn't able to bid because I would not have been off in time for the flight. I thought it was nice that they parked Ship 41 beside Spirit before the flight. I later went over to Hangar One at the General Offices and attended the celebration. Man that parking lot was full, the place was spilling over. They brought over Ship 41 and placed her beside the TravelAir in front of the hangars. They had an Atlanta Thrasher and a Falcon(i think) players signing autographs, Coca-Cola brought over the entire NASCAR Coke Family stock cars, and Coke was also giving away little 8 ounce bottles of Coke with the 75th Anniversary logo on them. Grinstein and Escarra then spoke, then Governor Purdue, and thats about when I left. They also had folks from Boeing and Pratt & Whitney supposed to speak. I believe that Selvaggio was supposed to come out with his band and do some playing. As always, a very good time with the Museum store in the L-10 mockup and all the wall displays of Delta through the years.

But sorry, no pics, left the camera at home, darnit.
