AirTran Questions-Please Answer

Wed Jun 30, 2004 10:20 am

Guten Abend,

I am Flying FL the 7th and the 20th. As I am flying as an UM with my sister, I have a few questions.

1) What are the current exact loads for 583 on July 7th and 88 for July 20th?

2) As I am flying with my sister, my father wants us in separate rows. Is that possible?

3) Can I move up to a row without an obstructed view of the engine so I can have photo opportunities?
(I'm makin a TR!)

4)ASAP, can I get the regs for the flights? Thanks much!

So if you can answer any of these questions, thanks! If I have anymore questions, I will reply to the post.

Auf Wiedersehen,
Bobby

Well firstly if you are over the age of 12 you are not considered a UM....

Secondly if you are accompanying your sister you had better sit with her!!!

Thirdly, no one can give you exact passenger loads for your flights...that would require delving into AirTran's yield manangement information and I don't think they are about to give out such sensitive info.

Fourthly, wait till the day you fly for the tail numbers....They dont have any Idea which planes will be flying which flights until the day dispatch assigns them to their routes.....

Fifthly, what is a TR?

Sorry to burst your bubble but you may just haev to be surprised by alot of these things...as there is no way anyone can fortell the things that you ask.
Why not be just excited and look forward to having a pleasent surprise instead of needing to know EVERY little detail..it takes the fun out of flying....

I can not believe that you asked abouts loads-that's like asking for a castrataion on this web-site.
Really though, you should be fine on AirTran! They now have all new 717s and they fly smoothe! Enjoy!

Maybe I'm the only one who's noticed this, but the past 4 days your pretty much asking the same questions about the loads etc (excluding the XM radio). Just wait a day or 2 before the flight, the loads will not change that much everyday.

I can not believe that you asked abouts loads-that's like asking for a castrataion on this web-site.
What's the big deal?

The tail number will be assigned 24 hours prior or so, but will most likely change the day of your flight due to new aircraft requirements in specific regions.

Your flights are too far out to look at any loads, it could be booked to 30 now and be booked to 130 by the time you leave.

As a UM you will be seated in row 30 or 31, usualy on the three side of the aircraft but not always. Unless of course someone pays for an upgrade.

Robert,

Folks are giving you info, but you don't appear to be reading or understanding it.

LOAD INFO is proprietary info, and is not for public dissemination.

SHIP NUMBERS are not assigned very far in advance and subject to frequent change. Someone might be able to tell you it's #123 two hours before departure time, but it could change to #456 right at departure time (if #123 were to breakdown unexpectedly). There are just too many variables.

You'll know the loads when you get to the departure gate and see the folks around you. You'll know the ship number when you look out the gate window and see it on the tail or nosegear.

Be patient!  Big grin

If you wanted to know the loads of your flights so bad, you should have flown an airline that will show you the available seating  Smile

AirTran does show available seating on Y, B, M and Business Class fares.

Also, check in on line 24 hours prior and see if you can't give yourself a better seat assignment than you're going to get at the airport (standard rows 30 and 31 for UMs). If you can't, just ask when you get to the airport, or once onboard. If the flights aren't full, the flight attendants will gladly move you up a few rows (we prefer those last two rows for ourselves actually)...

As a FAF, I can tell you if you want an unobstructed view of the engine, 27A is where you want to sit. I always sit there, and it is the best place to watch that baby in action.

Actually, it doesn't matter if he's over 12. If he's under 18, and his legal guardian has purchaed "Unaccompanied Minor" assistance for he and his sister, then in AirTran's eyes, he's a UM. Period. I've had 17 year old UMs before. It's only those under the age of 12 that the airline REQUIRES the guardian purchase UM assistance.

Just a side note here, the online web-check won't go through if the passenger has a SSR (special Service Request) such as UMNR attatched to the reservation. It will tell them their res. needs "special handling" and to check in at the airport.

In TPA we have problems with UMs without the SSR code checking-in online and then getting to security with the parents and being sent back to our counter because the parents need a gate pass. We have to add the UMNR SSR code, document the res. with the needed info., them have the parents fill out the UM form. By this time they are late for boarding and may miss the flight altogether.

Not a good situation.

Tim.

Do your sister and father know that you've posted your UM itinerary details on the Internet?

The 737's are scheduled to operate the same flights for the months of July and August. The routings are as follows:

30X: 1731 ATL-MCO; 1746 MCO-ATL; 1747 ATL-TPA; 1748 TPA-ATL; 1751 ATL-TPA; 1752 TPA-ATL; 1752 ATL-DEN

and....

30X: 1700 DEN-ATL; 1705 ATL-DEN; 1708 DEN-ATL

Anybody who happened to be in MCN today would've seen 1748 from TPA to ATL. It diverted there due to ATL wx along with TRS744, a 717 from MCO.

Considering we've had 3 diversions and ATL is running more than an hour behind...there are a number of swaps going on. Your ship number will begin with a 7 and your reg will begin with 'N9'...and end with 'AT'. The rest you can figure out at the airport.
