If the sterotype fits, wear it.
Citing the negative reaction of a large number of Canadians to Mulroney does nothing to prove anything bad about the man to me. Quite the contrary: it proves a great deal about the large number of canadians. Short sighted, biased, easily jaded by a fanatical left wing media culture in Canada.
Who is Mulroney respected by? Sure, a number of Americans. That he was invited to eulogize Ronald Reagan says a great deal about his relative improtance. Jean Chretien wouldn't get invited to give a speech to the Dustbowl Rotary Club.
However, to suggest that Mulroney's respect is limited to the US is ridiculous. THE UK, European Union, Asia, the boards of many highly respected intl corporations. Kaz, have you fallen into the uniquely canadian trap of resenting someone for their success? I guess that would explain why so few Canadians resent Jean Chretien.
However, I realize this opinion is too poltical. back on point, Brian Mulroney is an outstanding candidate for the board of AC
Finally, please do not suggest that I am anti-immigrant or make some thinly veiled reference to me being a bigot just because, God forbid, I dare to condemn the rotten to the core Liberal party of canada and question all those who sheepishly follow it. I assure you I am neither. That suggestion is offensive and uncalled for. Yes, it is possible to vigorously criticize the Liberal party and its Propganda page aka the Toronto Star without being "anti immigrant". Talk about stereotyping--you suggest I am a bigot because I dare to challenge the Liberal Party. Well, why not, afterall the very same Liberal party just managed to steal an election using that same hyperbole and scare mongering. It's the canadian way.
