Read closer and it says "has field". United does not have permission to fly the route yet, and American Airlines has also asked to fly the route. Who will get it is a tough call, they each have their advantages. UAL already offers three daily non-stops between the US and China (SFO
) and is established in the market, however, they are also in a major financial hole right now. American Airlines would be a new entrant into the market, opening it to more compieitition, and are also in a much more sound financial state, though they can't start service until 2005 (not a huge disadvantage, it would only be two months after UAL plans it) and are not established in the China market.
