Traffic At HYA (Hyannis, MA)

Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:10 pm

Well, the season for Cape Cod should be in full swing right now and I was wondering if anyone is bringing in any RJs to HYA this year? Also, on the private/corporte aviation side, have there been any BBJs or perhaps 727s spotted? And for the nostalgia buffs, what was the last year Delta had mainline DC-9 jet service at HYA? I think it was 1974..I know it didn't last very long after the Northeast merger. What were the DC-9 destinations from HYA?

All I know is no RJs...US Airways is flying Saab 340s to ACK, Saab 340s and Beech 1900s to LGA, and Beech 1900s to MVY. Cape Air only flies the Cessna 402. However, ACK will be getting RJs this summer from CO (EWR) and US (PHL/DCA)...

I spotted CO Express in with a prop on a Friday afternoon a few weeks ago--I just saw the CO tail, couldn't tell the model though. Are they still flying ATRs?

Also, http://www.airchive.com/Timetables%20and%20Maps/Delta%20Compressed/DLmap7306.jpg shows service to Hyannis, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard.

Rob, thanks for posting that route map from June 1973. I'm guessing DL service was discontinued at HYA, MVY and ACK sometime in 1974, not sure of the exact date though. Can anybody shed a light on this? Thanks.

FlyteComm's flight tracker http://www.flytecomm.com/cgi-bin/trackflight will give you a list of all the aircraft slated to arrive at HYA (or any other American/Canadian airport for that matter) on the given day. If you check the website for HYA scheduled flights, it'll give you a list of all of them, including many business jet flights by larger bizjet charter companies. As of now, it looks like you mostly get Saab 340 and Beech 1900 flights. Hope you get to see some RJs over the summer! Best of luck with spotting out on the Cape!
