Independence A319 Routes...

Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:27 pm

I know that they'll be placed on some Florida routes, but the question is, will most of the Airbus routes be from IAD, as the primary 'focus' city?

Hmmm as far as I understand.. IAD will be the only hub for a while.. But I do believe they will have focus cities before too long. Look for places where IDE has "extra" gates.

From what we have been told, all flights will be from IAD. It is not a focus city, it's a hub. We will do no point to point flying for a few years. Now, that doesn't mean the business plan cant change in the future. As for now, expect lots of service to the west coast, florida, and texas. I think there might be a few flights to MSP, MSY, STL, MCI and a few other midwest cities. I would also expect a few of the higher frequency markets, such as ORD, BOS, ATL to get the bus for a few flights. Just a guess as far as specifics, but all flights will be from IAD.

Highly unlikely. The higher frequency is thanks to the smaller RJs. The busses will be used at first to California, Las Vegas, and Florida, most likely. LAX, SFO, LAS, FLL, MCO, TPA, and MIA are near givens. RSW probably too.

I agree that those cities will come first, but eventually we need other places to fly them. There are rumors flying around that we will eventually open another 4-6 RJ cities because the bus will replace a few flights (Peak flights) to these cities, thereby releasing a few RJ's to start up a new city. With the way the loads have been out of ORD lately, I can imagine a schedule of 12 flights, maybe 4 bus, 8 RJ. I don't know for sure, just a guess.

Any sign that some of those RJ routes bumped off by the A319's might make it to LIT. The closest airport for people that want to get to D.C. nonstop have to fly to BWI which is 80 something miles away. I'm pretty sure the loads will be good flying from Arkansas's capitol to the nation's capitol.

Anything at this point is pure speculation. All I can say is that anything is possible. LIT is probably a little too far away to keep the average stage length down to where it is profitable. They did a great job of keeping the initial 35 cities under wraps until it came time, so don't expect any leaks. There is a ton of mid size cities that might be due for some LCC service, But those at a higher pay grade make those decisions....

Does anyone else find it strange that 1 city in Florida was announced?

There is no doubt where these planes are going.....

Where MAH said and probably a few surprise bus destinations....

MCI wouldn't surprise me, but STL would. The AmConn STL route is a piss poor performer.

Anyone know if Independence is flying A319 between EWR-IAD?

NW7E7: actually, downtown Washington is just 33 miles from BWI!

33 actual miles.. but in realistic miles.. it is about 300 cause it takes your forever to get from DC to Baltimore.. unless you are in some good, speedy traffic.. dang non-driving DC/Maryland drivers...

AMS, I am pretty sure that they wont use A319 on flights to EWR. They are using CRJs on IAD-EWR.

We are using the RJ right now for EWR as the 319's haven't been delivered yet. The first one should be on the property sept 1, and revenue flying should start November 1. It depends on lots of things, I would imagine if we ever did fly a bus up there, it would be after 2-3 years. I think they really want to start the west coast, and florida first.

A lot of people (in Grand Rapids, anyway) were surprised to hear that GRR wasn't on the initial list......perhaps they are planning on serving GRR with the Airbuses? If they are trying to fill a bunch of CRJs out of LAN (a smaller market), perhaps they will try to fill a bunch of Airbuses out of GRR (a bigger market). Just my two cents.

Hey guys,
Our brand new airbuses will be used to fly to cities in Florida such as MCO and possibly MIA. The other bus cities are going to be LAX,LAS and SFO and maybe more out west. Thats all we know so far but ill keep you informed. As for GRR, unfortunately i can assure you there won't be any airbus service there and since it wasn't on the initital list i can't say when or if we'll start service there anytime in the near future.

MSY is listed as an Airbus destination on the 2006 route map for Independence Air. Hopefully, we'll see them down here before '06, but even so, it'll be worth the wait.

as lambertman said id also be surprised to see indy on the STL-IAD route as United Express flies it n/s, as well as Americna Connection and dont forget we can hop a Southwest flight to BWI. To much competition for indy to fly it. But hey stranger things and cities have been announced so we can see.

The same could be said for the BOS-IAD-BOS run. We compete directly with the US and DL shuttle ( mainline aircraft flying to DCA ). We have had those RJ's packed since the launch. Time will tell I guess....

If anyone from IDE can answer,

I know the RDU flights are less than stellar.. it is, in fact, one of the lower stations I do believe... but does someone know the load factors for them? Have they been increasing, staying the same, or going down? Thanks...
