www.pprune.org is an interesting website.

It's forums are of further interest.

It's Rumours and News forums have intriguing information.

Maybe the airline, who was departing from LHR, is mentioned there?

According to a pprune post:
----------------------------------------------
"Yes it's a fact. A Captain on this morning's Royal Brunei was arrested after failing a breath test. He was due to operate a flight out of LHR. He was taken to Heathrow Police Station under arrest."

No flight number given....

How ironic is it that is should be Royal Brunei. Are they still a dry airline? capt obviously thought he'd ''refuel'' while he still could.
Mind you, their service would drive anyone to drink  Smile

Lol @ delayedagain.

Yeah BI are a dry airline or indeed were when I flew with them in 2002. I had to endure 17hrs LHR-AUH-BWN with not even a glass of wine with the meal!!

My guess is the flight number is BI098 to BWN via DXB.

It must have been BI 098 as the pilot was arrested 9:40 am and that's the departure time for BI 098.

Brings to memory of the two America West pilots arrested in MIA last year. Both were intoxicated way beyond legal limits.

FYI, one of those two pilots, a man named Cloyd, is Glen Campbell's son-in- law. I guess the boozing runs the family...

Also, there got a BA Airbus crew arrested at HEL some months ago, as they were drunk.... Sad.

These stories always make me wonder how many "slightly" inebriated pilots actually get to the flight deck and fly.

Better wait for the complete facts before rushing to condemn this gentleman. Failing a breath test is NOT the same as being drunk.

It was a LH crew that was arrested in HEL, both pilots got fired. I just talked about it with a LH FA about it a few days ago  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This is not good for both pilots got fired with their job and will relace them with more pilot without of drinking onboard. It is against with the laws, right?

As far as I know there is no limit of alcohol that you can't fly an airplane like when you drive a car. At least was it like that as the incident happened I think 2 years ago.
But Lh has a regulation for Pilots and their FAs that they are not allowed to drink alcohol 12 hours prior to the flight.
As I know from talking to the FA she said, flying international, you party the first two days and the night before the flight everyone has his coke standing in front of him  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I used to run one of the more popular nightclubs in Dubai (EK crew were our most frequent guests, and the main draw for the other punters)..and it would shock me to see some the pilots and crew drinking to abandon till 3am - many of them "boasting" of their early morning departures the same morning.

I would always avoid EK morning flights for this reason....

I know its hard to believe but its true i assure you.

The FAA has a 0.02% blood alcohol limit for pilots. Also, most if not all airlines forbid pilots from drinking alcohol 12 hours prior to their flight.

Failing a breath test is NOT the same as being drunk.

As far as the law is concerned, failing a breath test means you are drunk since your blood alcohol limit is at or above what the law has determined is considered to be intoxicated.

I believe he was refering to the fact that there are other things that can cause you to fail a breath test. Things like Binaca, Listerene pocket packs, berath mints, toothpaste, etc. (think minty) can casue your BAL to skyrocket. I was involved in a program here in the States called Every 15 Minutes, to help prevent drunk driving of teens, and one of the activities we did was take a Brethalizer test before and after spraying Binaca, then the pocketpacks, etc. The results were interesting.
