stirke FedEx had to go out and
find some help and Atlas was the best
choice. Now that the pilots didn't strike
FedEx is stuck in a contract with Atlas
which in return lowers the pay for the pilots.
Carriers often 'Wet-lease' or ACMI (Airplane, Crew, Maintaince, Insurance) When they are short of capacity on their own birds. It wasn't unusual to see two or three non Fed-Ex birds at the Fed-Ex ramp up in Anchorage during Christmas, The same with UPS. A lot of interesting flying is done by these types of companies.
