Mon Jul 05, 2004 6:12 am

Next 29 of July I will be traveling MFE-DFW-FLL and back on the 9th. I have the option of a 1hr connection or a 3hr at DFW. Will 1hr be enough? considering its all on American. Here are my flights:

----- Flight 1 -----
AMERICAN AIRLINES #1316
Depart : Mcallen/ Mission (MFE) at 12:28 PM - 07/29/2004
Arrive : Dallas/ Fort Worth (DFW) at 02:04 PM - 07/29/2004

----- Flight 2 -----
AMERICAN AIRLINES #1386
Depart : Dallas/ Fort Worth (DFW) at 03:01 PM - 07/29/2004
Arrive : Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 06:53 PM - 07/29/2004
----- Flight 3 -----
AMERICAN AIRLINES #507
Depart : Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 12:08 PM - 08/09/2004
Arrive : Dallas/ Fort Worth (DFW) at 02:11 PM - 08/09/2004

----- Flight 4 -----
AMERICAN AIRLINES #743
Depart : Dallas/ Fort Worth (DFW) at 04:11 PM - 08/09/2004
Arrive : Mcallen/ Mission (MFE) at 05:40 PM - 08/09/2004

What do you think, is it enough time?
Thanks in advance

An hour connection time is no problem at DFW. You will be arriving and departing at either A or C.

That's just shy of one hour, actually... I think you can do it. I dunno... I am trying to remember. I have never connected at DFW, since I live here. But, having flown out of it a WHOLE BUNCHA TIMES, I think you'd be okay. A bit rushed (long walking distances- take the TrAAm if you can) but doable. Just hope the flights are on time!

I looked at the assigned gates for your flights on the AA web site for tommorow. Most all the time, gates will remain the same assigned gates for a flight for a month or more.

Flight 1316 arrives in DFW at gate C7
Flight 1386 departs DFW at gate A37

A VERY short walk that you can do in 10 minutes.....and that includes stopping for a Dallas Sun Times and a coffee....!!!

No problem at all as I have done it often with less time than you have. Enjoy your trip. If you're not up for the walk you can flag down one of the carts that carry handicapped passengers, or take the TRAAM which will give you quite a view of the airport. Given that you are going the opposite direction of the TRAAM (if EMBQA is correct on the gates) I would suggest the walk.

I've made a 46 minute connection in DFW on AA easily. You won't have a problem.

Walk.....don't even waste time with the TrAAin. If the gates hold true, which they should, you'll be looking at your new gate across the ally when you get in to your connecting gate. For 2 months I was commuting from BNA to OKC thru DFW (how I know the gates don't really change) I would come in at C39 and dapart at A12. That was a hike, but I still could do it in 15/20 minutes.

I agree- if those are your gates, scratch what I said about the traam. I assumed you would end up going from A12 to C956. That's the way connections usually work, right?

Have a good trip.

Thanks guys! Another question, if I were to miss AA 1386 due to delays on AA 1316, would it be easy to get on the next flight? I ask this because I've had problems with AM at MEX in the past.

Thanks

Back in May I did from C30's to A30s using the TrAAin and it took me about 20 minutes including some walking and a stop at the restrooms.

Now here is a curious thing, I got off the plane at about 2PM and looked at the screen to see my flight's gate and it said FINAL BOARDING ( the flight was scheduled to dpeart at 3) so I hurried to the gate in TA and got there about 2:20 and we didn's start boarding till 2:30-2:40. I can't figure out why it said Final Boarding.

You should be fine since it's all on AA and if your first flight is delayed I'm sure AA can put you on a later flight, just hope its not on an MD-80

I knew it was about time for an MD-80 bashing.  Yeah sure

A 757 is more cramped due to no MRTC on there. Also, the MD-80 may not have IFE, but if a window is not enough for even a 4 hour flight, you really have issues. My eyes are glued to the window the whole flight except for a few times to snap a picture or drink some Coke.

I took a look at my flights' gates and I have to go A9 to C 39 is what it is looking for now. I hope that does not change, I want to use the Traain just to say I had rode that, kinda hoping I can see some aerial views from there. Maybe some pics if it is not too bad of shooting conditions through the windows.

It won't be a problem. AA's computers recognize whether you'll miss a connection before you even arrive at DFW and will automatically rebook you on a flight that you'll be able to make. All you need to do is go up to any service counter and receive your boarding pass for your new flight.

United4everDEN: I'm not bashing MD-80s, I just get them all the time (AeroMexico), I just get bored of em, besides I haven't been on a 757 for a while.

my motto is: if you can do it at ATL, you can do it at DFW....I allow 45 mins at ATL on DL (assuming its a T to D or far end of A to E or something)...so an hour for AA at DFW should be a piece of cake

My job last summer was helping connecting passengers at DFW for AA. Just remember. From C39 to A9 is a 2 and 3/4 mile walk! You should have no problem. Just ask anyone. Maps are available throughout the terminal to tell you if it is faster to walk or take the TrAAin. If your connecting gate is highlighted in blue, you can walk faster. If it is red, taking the TrAAin is faster. Or it could be the other way around. Anyways, the sign will tell you.

You'll have no problem with an hour between flights. However, if the flight is delayed 10-15 minutes, you might need to quicken up the pace especially if you're in a different terminal.
