"Airline" new season 2 started today with some great new episodes. Looks like it is going to be another great season.

Yes it did, and it got off to a nice start too. Lost count of how many passengers they offloaded (just kidding) but it makes it even more interesting. Can't wait for the next episode.

I wish they would come out with a more up to date Airline UK though.

Loved the part about the people going to Buffalo.

I liked how the one guy (who was being rude/abusive and couldn't get on the MDW-STL flight) was of the opinion that since he didn't "see" any weather outside the window, weather couldn't -possibly- be affecting his flight.

I chuckled for a solid five minutes...  Big grin

Patience!

We are years ahead of you! There's Holiday Airline too

A new season of Airline is in the works, maybe it's time for your TV networks to put the UK on more frequently and bring you up to speed. They could also show the earlier season you missed which featured Britannia.

Collen is my favorite agent. She is down to Earth and takes care of business.

Those two sisters, wow. I didn't understand anything they said.

I didn't like that bodybuilding contest at all. I tuned in to watch an airport, not some guy dancing around in a thong.  Sad

The two ladies at LAX who were fighting with each other. She just kept on going off on the smallest thing. Poor Mike had to deal with those sisters.

Andrew,

I agree with you! That bodybuilding thing was lame, that guy doesn't seem to be much of an employee all he does is eat and pose while he is working!

Hey that guy with the private jet can bail us out! Why? HE CAN AFFORD IT!

The real scary part of the episodes this week is that the real jerks weren't drunk. I couldn't believe Coleen yanked that guy off the plane. Personally, I would have been thrilled to get rid of him. I feel sorry for the family of the guy who was bumped from the BWI-BUF flight. I would rather spend the next year in Iraq than being cooped up in a car for 10 hours with that nut.

And speaking of Coleen, remember that the camera adds a lot of weight to people anyway. Yes, she is no Britney Spears, but she wouldn't get called a "customer of size" either.

OPNLguy,

I loved that part as well. Talk about a major idiot! Sadly enough, I have heard that numerous times at different airports and just had to laugh to myself.

I would have to say that one of my favorite characters tonight was Victor in Chicago. His attempts to get two passengers off the MDW-MCI flight were quite amusing. "Come on, Chicago is so much more exciting than Kansas City!"  Smile

Unfortunately, they did not have my favorite person from last season, Susie, on tonight.  Sad

Also, does anyone know if they are going to have anything about another airline here in the US? According to this webpage:

http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowMainServlet/showid-23963/Airline_2004/

They are planning to add two new airports, BWI (which was added tonight), and IAD, which WN does not fly to. Do you all think that this is an error? They did not have anywhere tonight besides MDW, LAX, and BWI, did they?

For the people going to BUF, what was WN doing saying "We have 5 boarding passes left" and then giving 2 of them to someone else. The family could have done something like the mom & kids take the flight, and the dad stays and waits until the morning. That is a logical resolution for that problem. That was rather irresponsible of WN.

WhiteHatter, I am aware that the UK is ahead when it comes to the airline/airport shows, I am from England I used to watch them all the time, I am just saying I wish we could see more up to date British versions over here.

As for the US show last night and the offloading of that stupid passenger, I agree with WN when they offloaded him. Some of you guys are just saying you would have got rid of him but the thing is you cant let people get away with acting like that anymore. Imagine how he would act once you put him at 38000ft with a few drinks inside him, you never know!!!

There should most definitely be a ZERO tolerance for passengers like that!!!

I can't believe how illogical that guy was who was complaining about the weather and yelling at the agents. That dude had no clue what he was talking about. I guess he was a professional swearer because whenever he asked to talk professionally you'd hear another 'bleep'! Then he comes up with a great line: "Do you see any rain outside?" Pretty funny. Then he continues to the next gate and apparently is rude to the agents there but they still let him board the flight! I don't know why they let him board like that... or does a supervisor have to deny boarding?
It's funny when I tell people I love planes and they think I'm weird.

I'm quite looking forward to catching the repeat later this week! Is Colleen one of the agents at BWI? I dont' recognize the name from last season. I'd heard the teasers on the radio yesterday "Weather? How can there be weather? Look out the window....!" (something to that extent, not intended to be a direct quote) I can't wait to see that segment!

I thought it was a great episode last night. I was also touched by how one of the rampers at LAX went to a body building competition and competed in memory of his late wife. I can't wait till the next episode.

Has anyone heard if they might be covering the station opening in PHL this season. I would think that since it was the first station opening since the show began, that it might be something that would be shown.

Colleen Bragiel is a Customer Service Manager at MDW.

She's a kick ass CSM! She really gets the job done and she doesn't take any bullsh*t from anybody. You can tell that she genuinely cares about her staff and how they're treated. I'd love to work with Colleen.

I was also surprised when she yank that jack@ss off his STL flight, but had this HUGE grin on my face when she did.  Smile

What's will all this garbage about Colleen's weight?

They were GOOD! Colleen's ass has gotten bigger I swear! She is so big she should be ashamed of herself.

Colleen is HUGE! True, the camera adds some pounds but she is a house! Her ass is as wide as a tractor trailer.

Sounds like we're in grade school here guys.

Hey guys, remember that the CSM's job is to make sure the flight is sent off safely and on time, not just to get obnoxious people out of her own hair. Colleen was absolutely right to get that guy off the flight to STL because he could easily have become a problem on the flight - the last place you need a loud, self-centered, possibly violent passenger these days. Congratulations to Colleen on a job well done.

Its not "I'd love to work with Colleen". I would say I'd like to have her work for me.
She's good, tractor or no tractor. She's good.
The one I can't figure is the Buffalo mis-cons. SW did nothing for those people and they mis-conned them. I think we are missing something in that whole section about the family from FLL to BUF. I cant believe good ole loved SW would just strand that family....but they did.

I found it odd that they didn't really introduce us to any of the staff at BWI, other than the ramp guy that proposed to his agent girlfriend. I suppose they will have plenty of chances in coming episodes. You feel like you personally know the CSM's at LAX and MDW by now!

I felt for that family to Buffalo even though the dad was a bit hot headed. It wasn't their fault that their flight from JAX was late arriving. I've taken that last WN evening flight to BUF at least 15 times and it's always packed no matter which day or time of year it is. I didn't envy that guy having to drive his family late night through the hills of MD, PA and NY to get home.

Re Coleen:

I think she took it too far when she "hunted down" the poor sap on the MDW-STL flight and took him off. He was a major-league a** but at that point I think he had simmered down and would have quietly gone on his way. That was pure escalation on her part.

And does WN really make you wait in line for new boarding passes at each connecting city? I can understand them penalizing you for being late to check in at your origination point (FLL in the case of the BUF-bound family), but to give away the boarding passes at your connecting city (BWI) because the flight is late doesn't seem fair (i.e. it's the airline's fault, not yours).

Those two sisters cracked me up! The sight of the loud one dragging her luggage across the floor rather than using the cart was priceless.

Exactly! Mike from LAX would have handled that passenger so much better and wouldn't have to feed his ego by removing him from a plane he had already boarded like Colleen did. That's another thing people like Colleen have to do, abuse their power to make themselves feel better.

As for the family from Buffalo, you have to understand when you are attempting a trip that has 2 stops and deal with an airline that oversells as much as WN does that you run that risk, they were a little late and they got burnt, this is what sets WN apart from everyone else, it makes them a great LCC but not the kind of airline to depend on.

Wouldn't it be standard procedure to count up the number of inbound passengers and then hold that many boarding passes for them? It's a certainty that they will be arriving since they are already "in the system," unlike those who are originating there. This sounds like a situation where somebody just miscounted or something.

These 2 "premiere" episodes were awesome! I was so glad to see that "Airline" will hopefully be keeping up the momentum for Season 2. The ONLY thing I was disappointed by was that Yolanda was not on this week. But it was great to see Mike, Anita and Colleen from last season. And I am looking forward to seeing the new BWI employees. I loved the segment on the stranded family on their way to Buffalo. I also thought the segment about the lady at MDW who lost her ticket at security was cute. I hope to see more of the employee who was helping her out. He handled her really well.

I do have to defend Colleen here, though. I think she is fantastic. The way that she handles irrate passengers is definitely necessary, and I respect the fact that she protects her employees. I work as a Front Desk Manager at a hotel, and I also deal with these screaming freaks on occassion(like when we oversell)...unfortunately, sometimes people become so mean that I tell them that they will not be able to stay with us unless they calm down and act like a human being. On the same token, I also respect the way Mike handles travelers, as well. Sometimes you have to take a more one-on-one civil approach like he does. Sometimes you need to act like a police officer, but sometimes you need to come down to earth and put yourself in the passenger's shoes. I think Southwest is very lucky to have both of them as employees.

"Airline" is a great show...and I hope to see more "Airline UK". I want to find out what happens to the girl with renal cancer.

Looking forward to next week's shows...

When watching the episode from AIrline 1 with the crazy mom who wanted 2 parents to go thru security with her unaccompanied minors my Dad cleverly pointed out that you can't cave in to people like that because that lets them know its OK to behave like that. By pulling the "screamer" of the STL flight Coleen very clearly let him know that behaving like that was not OK. As a result he probably will think twice before bhaving like that again...anywhere.

Great work Coleen, I would love to work for you or have you work for me. I've told my Dad he needs to hire her. Fortunately he employs 3 women like that already, they are GREAT!

Aloha73g,
I finally got to see that episode yesterday during the whole day event. If I was facing that woman, it would have taken a lot for me to not say, "If you are so incompetent that you are not even capable of watching two children in Midway airport for 30 minutes or so, you should not even be having children!"

Then, when she started bickering that her son was being left without a legal chaperone and that it was WN's responsibility to watch her daughter while she went to get them, I just shook my head. What a b%$^h! "Well, let me just call Child Services ma'am and maybe they would like to have a chat with you about you leaving your daughter alone here with me."

I agree, you need to draw the line somewhere for these people.

Most of the people who are in the gate area during the tapings don't really seem to be interested, what was funny was that guy who missed his flight and was talking ebonics, if you look close in the beginning when he is talking about having sex with this girlfriend and gets beeped because he curses a little girl is sitting there listening. Real classy!

He works as a baggage handler for them. So he decided to take his shirt off and practice his routine.

I love that guy who missed his flight! He was talking ebonics and everyone was looking at him like he was from Mars. Here's my favorite part.

"I was late yo! I had to get my last blaze in, you know how I do it. Ya know what I'm sayin, brrp brrp brrp that shit all night long."

Priceless! If you look close to the left you see a little girl listening to that idiot. Now I know what Bill Cosby is talking about!

My pre-teen daughter thought it was when the one of the A&E guys filmed her during the 400th delivery party on this end. She's convinced that she'll be on-air since they filmed her, but she may be in for a lesson on how shows are shot/edited...  Big grin

I couldn't believe those two sisters... just when you thought it was over, they started up again, and again! The one causing the problems was acting so irraticly! I think she was more than drunk, if you get my drift. I felt sorry for the one who was acting a little more reasonable. I liked the comment that was made when Mike offered her a baggage cart:

"I don't want your cart"

"Actually, it's not my cart, it belongs to the airport system"!

I thought the guy with the weather issues probably has emotional issues and is unable to control himself. I too thought that since he was on the plane and being quiet, I would have let him go. I thought that this was turning into a vendetta between him and Colleen. I am VERY surprised that he did not scream at her "I'm Never Flying Your Airline Again!".

Unfortunately, they did not have my favorite person from last season, Susie, on tonight.

Is Susie still in AIRLINE? I didn't see her name in the credits.

I think she took it too far when she "hunted down" the poor sap on the MDW-STL flight and took him off.

We, however, didn't see his behavior before Collen got to the first desk or any of his behavior at the second desk. She warned him he wouldn't be traveling if he didn't shut his huge mouth.

Jalto,
I mentioned how sad I was that Susie was not on those episodes way up at the top. Like you, I was quite disappointed that she was not on! I have nothing against Connie or the others, but I would much rather see Susie!  Big grin

AA757first,
They still list her on a website that I saw and on WN's website, they have pics and profiles of the people and Susie is on there.

You know what makes me laugh, I didn't see that guy yelling or doing anything Colleen said he was doing. He seemed irritated and did get a little excited when he asked "Do you see a storm?" Colleen embellished that big time and there was no reason to pull that guy off, if he was so out of control and abusing the gate agents how did he get on the plane in the first place?
Hey that guy with the private jet can bail us out! Why? HE CAN AFFORD IT!
