BWIA's 9Y-JIL At YYZ This Morning

Wed Jul 07, 2004 1:47 am

Hey,

I went to Terminal 3 today at YYZ to drop my sister off in the airport and saw BWIA's 9Y-JIL parked at the gate. This is now a regular A340 flight that arrives on Monday nights and returns to Port of Spain Trinidad on Tuesday mornings for the summer season. Now spotters can take some shots of the bird in YYZ. The funny thing is that Zoom Airlines, the airline my sister went to Trinidad with was scheduled to leave after BWIA but instead it was the other way around. The the joke is that BWIA only had about 100 Pax and Zoom was fully loaded. No matter what the circumstance, BWIA always has to leave late. LOL.

Best Regards,

Just out of curiosity--if they only have 100 pax why are they using the 340 on the route? Is it sometimes higher volume?

Good question Cayman. Of course BWIA has no aircraft in betw the 343 and 738 in terms of capacity. Also, a recent incident removed a 738 from service for repairs.

Glad to see this is a regular summer service!

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Got a photo of her yesterday, from an A319, leaving to Winnipeg.

Great photo MEL!

I actually prefer this partial scheme to the full BWIA scheme. It's cleaner and the green/purple make a good contrast.

I would LOVE to see the 340 in full Bwee colours (i think it would look gorgeous landing in a snow covered YYZ too!)

Ouch! She looks a mess! Look at the area round the front right door. Not that old, is she?

Whoa! It's dirty!  Wow!

I do prefer the full color scheme, though.

Saw her come in on 15L. As mentioned earlier - Nice, clean paint scheme. Would prefer the engine cowlings to be green with the steel drum logo on them... Like how it is on the tail. Better still, would have been cool to see an A340 painted in the original BWIA scheme. Now, THAT would be sssssweeeeet!
By the way - Cool photo, MEL.
