FLL-sju/sdq/pap Loads

Wed Jul 07, 2004 10:35 am

You know just looking at the skeds on AA.com and then checking out seat availability for the following routes these flights look like they are going out quite full.

Now the Fll-Sju route could we see an upgrade from the 4 daily 757's maybe a few a300's or a couple more frequencies?

Now the PAP and the SDQ routes could there possibly be a second flight added or a larger aircraft?

What about a FLL-SXM route has that ever been thought up of?

Just wondering....

FLL-SJU does well year-round. Heavy demand on the route. It does very well. Though don't look for more flights, because that will erode yield. FLL-SJU is a profitable market for AA, but not by much. Adding capacity can really hurt the profits.

FLL-SDQ and FLL-PAP are a mixed bag for AA. They do very well during peak travel periods (like the summer), not as well during off-season (hence, they will operate at only 3-5x a week this fall). Overall, the flights are doing satisfactory and making money, though, despite some trouble filling them during slower travel periods, and AA will be keeping them around. AA also considers them (and FLL-CCS) very important routes regardless of profits, because they protect market share. That's what AA's FLL focus city is all about: protecting marketshare in South Florida.

As a side note, I think JetBlue should consider FLL-SJU. That'll certainly improve our relations with AA...
