SIA Expatriate Pilots

Thu Jul 08, 2004 12:32 am

I am just curious - which countries are SIA expatriate pilots from?
A friend of mine who flew on SQ20 a few days ago say that the captain was Indonesian, something I have never heard of before.

Generally Britain, Australia, Canada, US, New Zealand and South Africa.

There are some who are permenant residents of Singapore who were not born in Singapore. Like Indonesia, and Malaysia.

I have often wondered how a us pilot would go about getting a job in another country. Does anyone have a link or any information about that?

If I am from Hong Kong and I do not have a Singapore Citizenship/passport/permanent ID, can I apply for a job as a pilot at SIA?

Of course you can, but you still have to meet their requirements. Depending on the position you apply for, you would need to have at least 3000 hours hours I reckon, including a current ATPL.

I believe they have many Indian expatriate cockpit crew as well. See them often here at SF. Though some of them are Singapore Indians. (way to distinguish is through their accents)
