Ford Motor Company's Aviation Operations

Thu Jul 08, 2004 6:22 am

Hi,

I would like as much information as possible about FORD Motors Company's aviation operations, how they lease aircrafts from, there own current fleet, routes they operate on regular basis, airline preferred when traveling etc (I know they use KL to and from GOT (well business jets for the Executives), so I guess NW is used in the US?).

Even a link to that information would be appreciated!

Why I want to know all this? well I work for VOLVO Cars in Sweden, a part of FORD PAG, owned by FORD Motor Company, so that's why I'm curios about it!

They used to have 5 GV's, but I know they sold them and bought two Falcon 2000's and two 900EXs. I think they have a F100 (may be a 70) as well. Ford Europe has a pair of BBJs.

Not positive about this info, but I think they're operating a regular B737 from DUS to STN, a sort of corporate shuttle if you will. The aircraft is registred VP-BBT and on lease from Braathes.

The above link should provide you with a few pictures.

Ford uses an F70 to shuttle employees between their facilities in Michigan and Orange County, CA.

A very good freind of mine is the Cheif Mechanic for Fords operations here in Detroit Ford runs two F70s as a regular airline operation M-F to there plants around the country. They also run a fleet of Dassults [ not sure of the number but i can find out] within this operation also. Clay Ford senior has his own aircraft that he keeps at a separate hanger at Metro.I had the chance to board Clay Ford juniors plane the day it arrived from the factory[you should see the gold fixtures on that thing]. All maintinence up to C-checks are handled at metro, all D-checks are sent out. Ford runs a very professional operation ,very clean hanger and aircraft

Here is the info I currently have:

Ford USA Fleet based @ DTW:

N300K G-V
N301K G-V
N322K F70
N324K F70
N329K DA2000
N330K DA2000

Ford appears to have gotten rid of their DA900EXs. As stated in an earlier post, Ford used to have the 2 F70s & 5 G-Vs. I've seen (through flight tracking software) the F70s at the following airports:

MCI, SDF, LUK, GYY, MDW, SNA, HII, LAS, TMB

I could be wrong, but I think they run a 7 day a week operation.

William Clay Sr. has a DA900EX also based @ DTW. Registration is N404F.

Numerous members of the Ford family have airplanes @ PTK as well.

Ford Europe based @ STN:

G-JETI H800
VP-BBT B737-700
VP-BBU B737-700

The 737's also fly an airline type schedule between Stansted - Cologne - Valencia.
