UA 744 In MSP Today

Sat Jul 10, 2004 2:15 pm

I saw a UA744 in MSP today, I thought that was pretty interesting! I don't know how long it was there, but it left sometime around 1630 I believe.

Maybe weather diversion from ORD?

Yes, it was diverted b/c of weather short period of heavy rain Friday late afternoon. It could be low fuel it was a long range flight from Hong Kong. That's why pilots were afriad of circle or ran of fuel if it is back up traffic to ORD. It rather be landing in MSP and get some fuel extra back to ORD.

That old UAL dc-10 is a very common visitor to MSP I know I see it every few weeks whenever I fly out of MSP.

Hi ScottysAir

He means almost every day we see an ex UAL DC-10 still in the basic UAL colors but in its new role as a Fedex freighter by the Fedex cargo terminal at MSP. It tells me Fedex must be very busy as it has been months that we see this now Fedex but ex-UAL DC-10 still in it original colors, and you would think Fedex would be able to repaint quickly. For example I no longer see any American Freightways red trucks they have all been repainted in Fedex colors within just a few months of being acquired. So it must mean that the Fedex aircraft must be very busy to be this long in their previous colors.
