Not likely. MSP is one of the last cities planned for the arrival of the A330. The majority of the this reason has to do with crew bases and training. I wish everyone had a chance to ride on the new A330...it is a dream!

No, it will be a DC-10-30, sorry.

No more A330-300's until 2005

A330-300 sched. through Oct:
1 DTW-AMS
2 DTW-AMS
3 DTW-AMS
4 DTW-AMS
5 DTW-FCO
6 DTW-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA
7 DTW-CDG
8 spare

After Nov:
1 DTW-AMS
2 DTW-AMS
3 DTW-AMS
4 DTW-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA
5 DTW-CDG
6 MSP-AMS
7 BOS-AMS
8 spare

The schedule for now in Nov. is tenative, but the only MSP route that will be upgraded by then is 1 of the AMS flights, to replace the KLM flight. BOS-AMS is also penciled in to receive an A330 in Nov, when the 4th DTW-AMS and DTW-FCO seasonal flights end.

Has there been a changed in plans for the A333s? I thought that Detroit-London was going to fly with the A333 after the seasonal service between Detroit and Rome had concluded.

Don't worry guys...the A330 will eventually have eliminated the DC-10-30 from international routing....and there are two ways in which I worry about this  Sad

see if you can change your routing through detroit. the a330 is very nice. i rode back from amsterdam last week in coach on one of the new 330's. it was quiet and comfortable.

i like that new car smell in an aircraft.

I thought NW had the A332, not the A333 yet. Whats the real deal?

NW had taken delivery of 8 A330-300's in the past year, and they have all been solely operating on Trans-Atlantic flights out of DTW.

Later this month NW will take delivery of its first A330-200, 7 will come this year, and be put into service first for Asia flying out of NRT and then on NRT-SEA/SFO/PDX routes in the fall. No more A330-300's will be delivered this year.

Update: I made a mistake above-

A330-300 sched. through Oct:
1 DTW-AMS
2 DTW-AMS
3 DTW-AMS
4 DTW-AMS
5 DTW-FCO
6 DTW-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA
7 DTW-CDG
8 spare

Oct 30-onward
1 DTW-AMS
2 DTW-AMS
3 DTW-AMS
4 DTW-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA
5 DTW-CDG
6 DTW-LGW
7 BOS-AMS
8 spare

What was to be MSP-AMS has been changed, so still no A330's from AMS. BOS will get it next, after all DTW Trans-Atlantic flights have been upgraded.

If I were your friend I'd be jumping at the chance to ride on one of the last remaining mainline passenger DC-10's in service. Sure the A330, A340, and 777 are all nice, but oh boy do I miss seeing tons of those old trijets.
