JAL 742 At BFI

Wed Jul 14, 2004 6:59 am

Hey guys.. I was driving on I-5 yesterday when I noticed a JAL 742 sitting on the tarmac at BFI. Does anyone know what it's doing here? I know JAL trains some of their pilots at Moses Lake, but what would a 742 being doing at BFI? Hmmm...

That would make sense.. but wouldn't they do that at PAE (Everett), not BFI?

Oops.. sorry for the mis-identification. But in my defense, I WAS driving at 70 miles an hour on I-5 southbound and trying not to kill myself in the process.  Big thumbs up

Driving at 70 miles an hour on I-5 is a very good way TO kill yourself.

Slow down and enjoy the planes.  Smile

Still at BFI today, as well as a BBJ in Evergreen (That is Eva Air-Evergreen) colors.

I was working at BFI when the JAL 747 came in at about 8am on Monday, and has been there ever since. At first I thought it was a 744SR. It was quite loud. It is now sitting outside the 737 delivery center. The building that it has been next to is one of the Boeing hangers that is used heavily with new developments though I haven't seen many planes over there since the 773ERs were being flight tested. I'll see if I can find out if anyone knows why it is there. It is nice to see a 747 at BFI other than the UPS ones.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

813J, huh. That bird flies to HNL quite often. They seem to be checking out the cargo hold. I've seen JAL 747s (even the -400s) have a hard time unloading cargo in HNL. I wonder if they are preping it for a repaint into the new colors. Where does JAL paint their aircraft?
