How many aviation enthusiasts are thinking of taking their private pilots licence (UK) private pilots certificate (USA)? Was it a good experience?

I've had my certificate (US) for some time now, and feel that the experience was very rewarding. It was a lot of work, and there were some anxious moments (checkride, written, etc...), but in the end, it was all worth it. If you're considering getting your license, good luck to ya.

Got my PPL in the US in 96, had a great time and have gone over to both the West and East coast every year to keep it current. I sat the written exams for the CAA one in 97 and passed them, so I have both an FAA and CAA PPL. The US is the best for flying though, great weather, cheaper hours and practically no where is off limits.
If you go for it, good luck
