NW Cuts LAX-DEN

Wed Jul 14, 2004 12:11 pm

Well no surprise, F9 dumps LAX-MSP, NW dumps LAX-DEN eff. 9/1/04, as reflected by their most recent schedule changes.

NWA wins again!!

Nwcoflyer,

NWA made that anouncement well before F9 pulled out. The LAX-DEN-LAX was pulled from the computer system back at the end of May.

LAX-DEN was never scheduled to go beyond August anyways. I'm surprised they're letting it even run out that long.

Now lets see about that LAN-IAD route....haha. Actually looking ahead to Friday the LAN-IAD runs are booked to 7, 13, 9, and 12, out of 44 seats. Considering on a month's notice of the route being started, on a non-hub route thats somewhat better that what I would've thought. Oh well.

No it wasn't. When it was first loaded into the CRS, it was only through 31 August. Then sometime in late May, they extended it year-round. It was pulled about two days after F9 pulled MSP-DEN.

MAH4546,

Im sorry MAH, your are incorrect as I was looking for flights for my parents from LAX to DEN in both September and October sometime during the last week in May and the flights were pulled from the system already. So those flights were gone before F9 announced.

NWAFA,

Thanks for the info. I don't know how I missed that.

I just noticed because I was booking a trip from LAX-DEN for Sept. and noticed it wasn't in the system.

Then I am incorrect in the date it was extended. It was originally in CRS system until 31 August 2004. Sometime in late May/June, it was extended year-round. It was definitley in reservation systems and bookable into 2005 after Frontier announced the MSP-LAX suspension. Many people mentioned it in the F9 threads, and were asking when it would be pulled out of res systems.

Hey MAH4546,

Can you tell me about what happening with MSP-LAX is suspension service? Do you even think will bring them back service to MSP again in the future?

Regards!

Mah is correct.

LAX/DEN was not iniitally loaded in the NWA computer beyond the end of August. However, this was changed, back in late May or early June.

I have the actual date it was loaded somewhere, if anyone wants me to look, because I made a post about it on the Yahoo Frontier stock board (FRNT).

The route was pulled by NWAC almost immediately that Frontier pulled LAX/MSP - within hours. The two decisions were announced in the Rocky Mountain news at the same time, before the rest of the press knew about it.

cheers

ScottysAir,

I doubt F9 will jump back into the LAX-MSP maket any time soon. NW does a good job protecting their territory, and it would be foolish for F9 to get into another fare war, because neither of them really win. There was an extended period of time where you could get a round trip fare from LAX-MSP for 120 something. I don't think you can make a profit off fares like that.
