Continental Micronesia 747

Fri Jan 15, 1999 7:09 am

Does Continental still operate its 747s? if so how long are they
planning on operating them, and what aircraft will eventually
replace the 747 in the Micronesia fleet?

I've flown on 9V-SPK.

I heard that there going to replace them
eventually. Probly with 757's from the states.
Here is the cycle I think their doing.
BTW I saw the MicroCO 747 at LAX a few weeks ago.

MD80 replaced by B737 300
B727 replaced by B737 300
B737 300 replaced by B737 700, B757 200
B737 700
B757 200 replaced by B737 700
B767 300
B767 400
B777 200
B747 replaced by B767's
DC10 replaced by 777 200

N14024 and N33021 were retired in the last couple of months. The other two aircraft will be out of the fleet by the end of February. The DC-10-30 will replace the 747 in the short term in the markets where it flew, GUM-NRT and HNL-NRT.

Very soon, there'll be no more 747 at Continental!
The DC-10's will still be there but they will be progressively phased out in favor of 777's and 767's coming up.

Continental operates 4 747-200 series aircraft in the Pacific. When the time comes they will most likely be replaced by 777-200s.
